Mister Rogers DVDs - His timeless episodes never grow old
Filled to the brim with positive reinforcement and educational material taught at a slow pace so children can absorb it, Mister Rogers, remains after 30 years on PBS one of the best possible educational shows on television. Mister Rogers makes every child feel special and loved while helping them learn the moral lessons that are missing in so much current children's programming.
Mister Rogers visits a restaurant and is invited to talk with the chef. When Henrietta Pussycat and X the Owl have trouble cooperating, Lady Aberlin helps them work things out and realize that even good friends can get upset with each other once in awhile. LOVE: Mister Rogers hears a lullaby performed on a mandolin at the Neighborhood Music Store. Lady Aberlin sees King Friday and Queen Sara have an argument and learns that people who love each other can also have angry feelings sometimes. Includes an Exclusive Care-Giving Tips Booklet and comes packaged in a reproduction of Mr. Rogers' famous red sweater.
Mr. Rogers brings the purity and sincerity to a new generation. As in the newer children's programs of today where there is content that is objectionable for little eyes to see and little ears to hear, Mr. Rogers is an anchor for today's innocent children.I bought this for my three year old grandson and he loves the programs. This video is no exception and proves to be one that sends the message that each child is indeed very special and is accepted just as he/she is. It has all the elements of honesty and and is appealing with the sounds of the trolly, the puppets, and the gentle, loving voice and face of Mr. Rogers. The school bus toy is a great added bonus and a joy.
Mister Rogers Music - What was your favorite?
Mister Rogers has had such a wonderful run on public television. He invoked many happy & safe emotions to me in my childhood. He has lovingly affected many generations of children. What a wonderful sentiment then is this set of his songs so wonderfully interpreted & contributed by some very talented artists. My favorites from this set is DONNA SUMMER's "Are You Brave", CRYSTAL GAYLE's "Did You Know", & TONI ROSE's "Just For Once". This set was recently GRAMMY nominated for Best Children's Recording this year! The songs are great to listen to by Adults & Children alike. Great album!
Mister Rogers Books - The written wit and wisdom of Mister Rogers
When he died in early 2003, Rogers was one of the most recognizable (and beloved) people on television, even though Mister Rogers' Neighborhood had actually stopped production a few years earlier. This small volume collects many of his writings-from songs he wrote for the show to his acceptance speech at the Television Hall of Fame-organized around themes like "The Courage to Be Yourself" and "We Are All Neighbors." The format is occasionally tantalizing: When he said, "I'm proud of you for the times you came in second, or third, or fourth, but what you did was the best you had ever done," was he talking to his TV neighbors, or to one of his own children? The few biographical hints his writings offer about the show's origins and his personal life, plus an introductory reminiscence by his widow, may leave many readers eager for a full biography.
Chock-full of the wisdom, wit, and whimsy that have made Mister Rogers a beloved friend to so many, this Miniature Edition™ is the perfect gift for any graduate -- or a nostalgic homecoming for anyone who's ever "visited" the Neighborhood.
Reassuring and wonderfully accessible, full of child development insight and practical ideas from a trusted friend of both children and adults, this innovative book is a valuable resource for all parents of 2 to 6year-olds who are faced with a variety of new and challenging situations. Charmingly illustrated, it addresses everyday experiences such as bedtime struggles, mealtimes, going to the doctor, as well as difficult times like divorce and death.
Her stories of Rogers get to the one side of his persona that he kept very quiet, his Christian faith. In his younger days, Rogers started off as a puppeteer on a children's show and saw the need to bring the Gospel into the way that television reached out to children. To this end, he enrolled in seminary, only to find resistance to his being ordained. The ordination board did not know what to do with a man who did not want to pastor a local church, but instead wanted to pastor every person who watched a children's TV show he led. But Rogers's insistence that the Holy Spirit was able to speak truth even through the airwaves convinced the seminary board; he was ordained in the United Presbyterian Church.
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood: Children, Television, And Fred Rogers addresses the enduring influence and importance of Fred Rogers' work in children's television. The contributors represent a wide range of disciplines (art, psychology, medicine, social criticism, theology, music, and communications). Fred Rogers began his television career in 1951 at NBC. He became program director in 1954 for the newly founded WQED-TV in Pittsburgh, the first community-supported television station in the United States. From 1954 to 1961, Rogers and Josie Carey produced and performed in WQED's "The Children's Corner", which became part of the Saturday morning lineup on NBC in 1955 and 1956. It was after Fred Rogers was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1963, with a special charge of serving children and their families through television that he developed what became the PBS series "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood".
