What Is Positivism?
Positivism is magic. At least that's what I like to believe and that's what I've experienced. It's about having the confidence that no matter how bad the times are, you will move towards a happy and peaceful time sooner or later. It's faith in one's self. It's faith in the people around you, at your work place, at your school, college or even at home. Positivism is believing that you can achieve anything, if you put your mind to it.
A good leader must always stay positive
As a kid, I used to fall ill a lot. I had a super sensitive stomach and a recurring migraine problem. Back in the day, whenever I was away from home and if I'd fall ill, the only cure or medication that would come to my mind was, MOM. I would scream and yell at concerned and tensed faces around me to take me home as fast as possible. My colleagues would insist on some first aid or precautionary medication but I would just deny it all. All I needed at that moment was my mom.
I'm sure you've all heard of the placebo effect. That's exactly the kind of therapeutic effect her words and home remedies have on me. No matter how serious my ailment looks to a foreigner, she would tell me, "It's alright, nothing's wrong, you'll be fine in no time." And that's it! I'd believe her! Just like that! It didn't matter how cliched her words sounded, that's all that I needed to hear to feel better. Not even the best super super specialist could say something that would help me feel better as long as my mom didn't approve.
I'm sharing this childhood memory with you all to emphasize on the need for the leader to be strong headed and positive. My mother was no doctor, and now that I discuss these incidents of my stubbornness with her, she confesses that there were times she just didn't know what to do. What she did know was that she couldn't let me know that. And that's what a good leader always does.
As the head of an organization or department, keeping a positive attitude is very important. How can the leader of a nation tell its citizens that he or she can do absolutely nothing to make things better? I can think of a decent conversation between a leader of a nation and a concerned citizen, and it should go something like this:
Concerned Citizen: " Hey XYZ! You don't seem to be doing anything about the current situation. IS there anything you can do to help? Is this ship really sinking?"
Leader: "Hello dear citizen, yes we have taken on some water. But it's only a matter of time."
Remember, even the pilot of a crashing plane, has got to make announcements from the cockpit in a smooth tone, keeping his or her calm. For any trace of panic in the pilot's voice will be picked up by the passengers making them nervous, panicky and sometimes even aggressive.

This way, no matter how gloomy and beaten down one is feeling, he or she will find hope and reason to keep going. How to Stay Positive Tip #4 Workout: Make sure you devote at least thirty to forty minutes in a day in doing some kind of physical activity. It could be taking a brisk walk out side your house, playing badminton, soccer or hitting the gym. Physical activity helps maintain the balance in our lives, keeping our mind active.
How to Stay Positive Tip #5 Pamper Yourself: If you want to stay positive, make yourself feel special. Take the break you deserve. Remember, "All work and no play made Jack a dull boy". Go out for drinks with your friends, take your lover out on a date, go shopping, go bungee jumping, do what really makes you happy! This way when you get back to work, you will inevitably radiate positivism.
How to Stay Positive Tip #6 Keep Good Company: Surround yourself with people who encourage you at all times, appreciate you for who you are, and don't judge you when you make mistakes in life.
