Babies Make Me Smile

Things That Make Me Happy Things That Make Me Smile

Whenever I hear the Nat King Cole song Smile I can't help but smile. My dad had a beautiful voice and quite often when I was feeling down he would break out singing Nat's song. Just hearing my dad sing would bring me such joy, and make me smile.

If you're ever sad or feeling blue find something to put a smile on your face. It will make you feel better.

The music for smile was composed by Charlie Chaplin in 1936.The title Smile was added to the music along with the words in 1954, by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons.

Other things that make me smile - Not necessarily in the order that they appear

So many, many things make me smile, and I'll more than likely have to add to this list as I think of more things.

  1. Babies
  2. Puppies, kittens, monkeys, but especially my two dogs
  3. Comforting smells
  4. My husband's lame jokes
  5. When a perfect stranger smiles at me
  6. My family gathered around my dinner table
  7. Music
  8. Great movies with happy endings
  9. Comments on things I write
  10. Seeing older people holding hands
  11. When I see a younger person give up a seat for someone older

If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it.

— Andy Rooney

I love seeing older people hold hands, too. That always puts a smile on my face and in my heart. Interesting that Charlie Chaplin composed Smile. I had no idea he was a composer!

@BenjaminFrancs: When my boys were little I had fun making them smile with food. I'd try to make different animals out of vegetables, or draw a happy face in mustard on a sandwich. Thanks for your comments and hope you have a great week. :)

Thank you for the encouraging lens. Your son is adorable. I never though of using a skillet like that. But you know, I can't cook. At least I can always get the help from Squidoo. Thanks for reading my lens and have a great evening Susan.

I'm having a smiley day today. It's spring here and it feels like the world is bursting from the confines of winter which always makes me happy. Smiled at a perfect stranger on the train - one of those moments when each of us was plugged into our own music, made eye contact and grinned at each other - strangers in momentary sympatico. Trying on an outfit and told the lady in the next cubicle that the dress she was trying on *really* suited her and why - she took that dress ;) Stopped to pet a neighbours cat on the way home and was thoroughly amused as he rolled on the warm driveway for a tummy rub, and when I saw this lens (so quick off the mark for the challenge!) I smiled at Sholland10's comment below because I thought the same thing :) Have to get my smile lens done this weekend!

I think I did make my husband smile today...right after I said some magic words: "I'm making fish and chips for dinner!"
