Teach Your Kids about Healing
Because You Can't Keep Them from Getting Hurt
It is heartbreaking to know that our children will be hurt in ways that we can't prevent, and to watch helplessly when they get sick. Sometimes, really sick. And, of course, we hope that their lives will be better than ours. Happier than ours.
We teach them everything we know about life. And love.
But we miss the boat if we don't also teach them how to heal. Because we can't prevent the things that will go wrong, they need ways to recover emotionally and physically. So this lens is about to do that, how to teach them about healing.
This lens is about how to teach your children to clear painful, unhealed thoughts, feelings and experiences from their energy fields.
When we have experiences that hurt us or upset us that don't get healed, that energy stays with us and can cause problems for us physically and emotionally if not cleared and released.
"Unresolved emotions such as unexpressed anger can stay in the aura for years." -Brenda Davies, M.D., The 7 Healing Chakras
"If I could, I would try to shield your innocence from time. But, the part of life I gave you isn't mine. I watched you grow, so I could let you go. If I could, I would help you make it through the hungry years. But, I know that I could never dry your tears. But, I would, if I could."~~If I Could, Regina Belle

What Your Kids Need to Know...
When something happens that hurts our feelings, or makes us mad or doesn't feel good in some other way, if we don't heal it, it stays with us like a shadow.
We might not see it or feel it, but it is there in our space and it can make us feel bad in other ways down the road if we don't fix it. But just like a superhero might have magic tools to help save the day, we have healing tools in our toolbox that we can use to get rid of those thoughts and hurt feelings.
Introducing the Chakras
Our seven main chakras are energy centers up and down our bodies from our tailbone to the top of our head. They are said to be like spinning wheels at each of those seven centers and are contained within the energy field.
1st: The first chakra, often referred to as the root chakra, is located right around the tailbone and when working right, it helps us feel rooted and grounded and welcome here on earth.
2nd: The second chakra, often called the sacral or belly chakra, is located a couple of inches below the navel and is designed to help us feel our feelings, both sexual and emotional.
3rd: The third chakra, referred to as the solar plexus, is located just under our heart space in our belly area, and is connected to intelligent thought, knowledge and the will.
4th: The fourth chakra, the heart chakra, is located at our heart space, and it helps us love ourselves and each other. Compassion and forgiveness also come from the heart center.
5th: The fifth chakra, referred to as the throat chakra, is located right there at our throats, and helps us express our thoughts and feelings, and find our voice, express ourselves creatively.
6th: the sixth chakra, our brow chakra, is located between our eyes and helps us see even when our eyes are closed. This is the seat of our intuition and helps us know even when we don't know how we know.
7th: The seventh chakra, our crown chakra, is located at the top of our head and it connects us to the universe, the divine, the eternal. It helps us feel connected.
As you reflect on each chakra, think about how each one would help you in different areas of your life. When you share this information with your children, have them give some thought to that, too, and tell them this...
"Being aware of your chakras can help you in everyday life. If you are trying to do schoolwork and it seems hard to focus, place your hand on the 6th chakra, between your eyebrows. Feel the energy of that chakra. It may help you to think more clearly. If you want a more loving feeling, think about your heart chakra and let that energy fill you." --Karen Daughtry and Darlene Nelson, My Helpful Healing Touch
How to Feel Your Chakras
Rub your hands together to wake them up a little.
Then, hold one of your hands several inches away from each chakra and gradually, move it closer to that chakra, noting any differences in what you feel. You can begin to slowly move your hand in a few inches and then, back a few, to see if it feels different.
Typically, the sensation of encountering them increases as you get closer. It may feel more dense or thick.
How to Know Which Chakras Are Out of Balance
One way to know which of the chakras are not working well is to use a pendulum. And when I say pendulum,I mean anything heavy that you tie to a string. Because the chakras emit energy, if you bring anything close to them, it will respond to that energy.
So make a quick homemade pendulum, and hold it over each chakra for a minute or two and watch what happens to it. If it swings or spins in a circle, it is in good health. If it moves back and forth, it may be out of balance.
Aromatherapy for Chakra Healing
"Essential oils... help a person obtain emotional equilibrium -allowing happiness and joy, our birthright, to come out. Essential oils are facilitators, balancers..."--Valerie Ann Worwood, The Fragrant Mind: Aromatherapy for Personality, Mind, Mood and Emotion.
First Chakra: Vanilla - It helps to promote comfort and a sense of security.
Second Chakra: Ylang Ylang - It is warm, sensual and soothing; helps generate passion and calm negative feelings like anger.
Third Chakra: Juniper Berry -It promotes positive thoughts, inner vision and conviction, enhances self-image.
Fourth Chakra: Bergamot - It corrects emotional imbalances, promotes harmony and empathy.
Fifth Chakra: German Chamomile - It is communicative, good for self-expression.
Sixth Chakra: Clary Sage - It probes deeply into your psyche, enhances intuition.
Seventh Chakra: Neroli - It helps you feel less alone, promotes a sense of spiritual connectedness.
To blend, add 2-3 drops of each essential oil to a brown glass bottle. Roll it back and forth in your hand to blend them. Then, add half an ounce of a carrier oil like sweet almond or jojoba oil and roll, again, to blend.
After it has blended, hold it in your hand and think about your intention for using it. This last step adds intention to the energy of the oil.
Before you begin, place a drop of the essential oil blend in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together. For each chakra, cup your hands loosely over your face and take a moment to breathe in the oil blend.
Then you will do a brief meditation for each chakra...
First Chakra: Think about the color red and see it as vividly as you can. Notice it becoming brighter and even more vivid. Then, see that color expand to fill your space, absorbing everything that needs to be released and taking it away as it fades.
Now, imagine a big, sturdy oak tree. See yourself merging with it briefly so that when you separate again, you have gained strength and are feeling rooted and grounded.
Second Chakra: Imagine the brightest orange you can imagine. As you see it in your mind, it grows more colorful and vivid. Then, see that color expand to fill your space, absorbing everything that needs to be released and taking it away as it fades.
Now see it attached to a happy orange tree, bursting with its fruit. But next to it is a sad weeping willow. Both trees can be part of your experience as can all of your feelings.
Third Chakra: Imagine the most beautiful sunrise you have ever seen. Watch it rise until it is complete and the only color you can see is intensely bright yellow. Then, see that color expand to fill your space, absorbing everything that needs to be released and taking it away as it fades.
Now feel the warmth of the sun gently washing over you, coming to rest in your belly area, sending warmth like rays of sun from its new central location.
Fourth Chakra: Think pink! See a gorgeous rosebud just before it blooms. As you watch, see it gradually open and bloom into glorious, bright color. Then, see that color expand to fill your space, absorbing everything that needs to be released and taking it away as it fades.
Now imagine that beautiful blooming, fully-open rose filling your heart space, feeling it warm your heart and open it to love.
Fifth Chakra: See a soft, beautiful blue, gentle but fully present. You might imagine the blue of the sky and see it gradually expand to fill your space, absorbing everything that needs to be released and taking it away as it fades.
Now imagine yourself easily saying what you need to say, finding your voice, listening when that is appropriate and communicating your truth. Hear the sound of your own voice. What words do you hear?
Sixth Chakra: See a deep indigo blue. Watch it gradually deepen and intensify and grow even more vivd and beautiful. As you watch, it expands to fill your space, absorbing everything that needs to be released and taking it away as it fades.
After it fades, you see small shapes and colors in various shades of this blue and they begin to transform into whatever you need to see right now. Know that they remain ready to share whatever you need to know.
