Glass Apothecary Jars

Elegant Apothecary Glass Jar Canisters For Storage And Display

Glass apothecary jars are extremely useful kitchen accessories that nobody should be without. I have several such jars at home, some made of plastic, but most made of glass, and I have to say that the glass jars beat the plastic one by a mile.

There are many creative ways to use these glass jars, and over the years I've seen them used to display a gorgeous selection of candies, soaps, vintage items, knobs, rocks and pebbles, sea shells and many more. A few elegant apothecary jars elegantly placed in the living room can really enhance the look of the place

This is why I prefer using glass over plastic as there is just something about the decorative objects showing through the glass during the day when the sun shines through, or in the night when a well placed spotlight showcases those beauties.

Enjoy browsing the selection of apothecary glass jars shown below and have fun using them in creative and interesting ways!

One of the way I like to use my apothecary jars made of glass is to store various herbs. Here is a great set of 9 glass jars that are even labeled, so all you need is all the herbs in them for storage and display. I use lots of herbs for relaxation and I have 2 jar sets for storing my "collection" of herbs.

A great addition to any person interested in healing with herbs and living a healthier life overall. These jars remind me of some antique potions master who mixes his secret medicine with herbs used from these containers.

Traditional Use Of Glass Jars

We all know the traditional use of apothecary glass jars, many of us we've actually seen them as kids in pharmacies where all sorts of concoctions, powders and pills were kept and used for mixing those miracle remedies for various ailments. I've actually seen some of these jars even recently in a village nearby and I was pleasantly surprised.

Nowadays these glass containers are used for different purposes, some even decorative in nature. However very seldom you will see now an old apothecary (pharmacy) with the setting as in this photo above.

Here is a great glass jar that is perfect for kitchen use, especially since the jar is quite big too! For example you can store sugar, salt, flour (as in the image here), or anything else that needs lots of storage space and easy access. Of course you can also store candies and other goodies in it.

It has a nice vintage style that looks great on any kitchen counter. The jar comes with a glass lid so all your supplies are well sealed if needed. The lid is also easy to remove. Can be placed in the dishwasher for fast and easy cleaning.

If you've wondered what else can you put in an apothecary glass jar, here is a great idea for yourself or as a gift to somebody else: as a plant terrarium. It comes with instructions for usage and care, and it's ready made.

If you're thinking of a gift to a lovely lady, this one will bring a smile to her lips and heart.

Also check out some other terrarium kits that I have as gift ideas for a plant lover.

Now here is a novel idea if I've ever seen one: a glass apothecary jar made into a dispenser - beautiful at that too! Godinger is a household name in all glass and crystal bar-ware including wine and whiskey decanters. This piece is hand made from start to finish.

Great glass jar to fill with a favorite beverage such as ice tea, juice or any other cooled drink you need to serve to the family or guests.

Did You Know That...

In the old times an apothecary was what we call now a pharmacist? In fact they were also the local doctors in many cases and they used the glass jars to store their medicine and herbs.

Another great glass jar is shown here with a gorgeous shape and design that is perfect for giving as gift. Due to its wider container it can store lots of candies and it will really look good on any surface, like the table, mantelpiece, etc. Add a nice ribbon to it and it's perfect to be received at the next birthday party, wedding or any other relevant event.

Of course you can also use it to display other items, such as sea shells, soaps, fruits and candles. A truly elegant design!

And here is yet another glass jar with a gorgeous shape and form, truly in the apothecary style that is so popular nowadays. Perfect for candy display during any party or event, and of course, perfect as an inexpensive yet gorgeous looking gift.

Just fill it in with something you know that the recipient will love and off it goes to the new home. It has a great size opening so many things fit right in without any problems.

Btw, if you know a person who is collecting glass jars, the ones shown here are perfect for completing the collection!

I love this antique decorative design glass jar. It has a lid that closes and opens easily, and it's perfect for candies and other goodies for birthday parties or any other party occasions.

Another great idea is to use it in the bathroom and store different color pieces of soap.

For example, I have something similar at home where I use in it fragrant soap balls. I leave the lid open most of the times so the entire bathroom really smells heavenly - especially lovely when you're taking a nice hot bath.

I love having the house décor in glass and wood and these gorgeous apothecary jars would fit in perfectly. I do have a couple beautiful glass jars on display already but I don't think that one can ever have too many.
