Indian Chutney Recipes

Chutney can serve as a side dish or accompaniment for Rice, Snacks and south Indian dishes like idli or dosa. They can add taste to any meal. Chutneys can be seen in mostly two types. One is the dry chutney powder and the other is the wet chutney recipes. Dry Chutneys are often mixed with oil, ghee or yogurt and used and can stay for several months.

Garlic Chutney (Lasun ki Chatni) Recipe

Garlic Chutney, known as Lasun ki Chatni, is a popular recipe of Maharashtra.


  • 1 cup peeled Garlic cloves
  • 1 cup grated Coconut
  • 2 dried Red Chillies
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste

Method of Preparation

Dry roast garlic, red chillies and sesame seeds for 2 minutes on low flame in a Kadai. Allow cooling and run all the ingredients in a mixer. Serve with rice, roti or south Indian dishes like idli or dosa.

    I would have never thought to add coconut. I notice that you have it in your mint chutney too. Going to try it!
