If you want to cook some of the best vegetarian food then these cookbooks have it all!

Even the most avid meat eaters will love some of the vegetarian dishes which can be easy to make, filling and bursting with flavor! There is something for everyone and for all levels of skill in the kitchen, whether you are just starting out with basic vegetarian cooking or you want to try some of the more advanced meat free meals!

The one thing that I would say about any cookbook is that if you are tempted to buy one then do get the printed version as they are much easier to navigate and leaf through than on the kindle.

For vegetarian dishes bursting with taste this is the book for you!
Plenty is one of my favorite vegetarian cookbooks and probably the one I use most often, especially when I need to cook something special!
The cauliflower frittata is superb, and, if you have tried polenta before without much success then give the mushroom and herb polenta a try, it is by far the best polenta dish I have ever made.

Edit: If you like spicy food then you have to try the 2 potato vindaloo, it's VERY good!

Vegetarian 5-Ingredient Gourmet

If you want to keep it simple The Vegetarian 5-Ingredient Gourmet is a great book to go for. There are 250 recipes, each having five or less ingredients, which won't take an age to make. The recipes are good on their own, or you could be a bit more adventurous and jazz them up a bit with more herbs, spices or dressings. If you're not really a confident cook or you need to make quick and easy vegetarian meals with minimum fuss then give this book a try.

Madhur Jaffrey's World Vegetarian

I'm a great fan of Madhur Jaffrey's recipes and this book did not disappoint! I do love to cook world food and use spices a lot, one of my favorite dishes is a really good Lentil Curry but this book has enabled me to expand my repertoire with some delicious vegetarian dishes.
Try the Sri Lankan Sweet Potatoes with Cardamom and Chiles, vegetarian eggplants, Chickpeas and Chana Dal Cooked Together in a Mint Sauce or the Middle Eastern Stew of Chickpeas, Potatoes, and Carrots.

Now this is a cookbook with a difference... it reads more like a graphic novel than a vegetarian cookbook (please don't let that put you off, it is a really worthwhile vegetarian cookbook to have in your collection) and you will be surprised how you get carried away reading this fun vegetarian recipe book!
Some of the recipes can be a little bit intricate, so if you are a complete cooking novice you may find them a little bit daunting, but they are explained well and the end results are well worth it!


The recipes in this cookbook are full of interesting flavors from around the world! You will enjoy browsing through the recipes which are accompanied by some wonderful photographs to tempt your taste buds, but even mor, you will love the meals which are bursting with flavor.
If you are tired of the "usual" vegetarian fare this book will introduce you to some wonderful flavors which will make you go back to it time and time again!

To be honest, I haven't yet tried any of the recipes from this book, but I have heard lots of good things said about it and that is why it is included in my list.
