10 Quick Chicken Marinades

Easy Chicken Marinades for Flavorful Chicken

Chicken is the main staple in my kitchen and it's usually the answer to "What's for dinner?" many nights during the week. I am always looking for easy and different ways to spice it up and make it more flavorful.

That's why I love these 10 Quick Chicken Marinades. They can be whipped up in no time at all and will definitely give plain chicken the kick it needs.

1 . Teriyaki Marinade

This is my husband's favorite marinade and I use it for everything from drumsticks to wings. This is the marinade to use for a bit of Asian flair. Top with toasted sesame seeds for a nice presentation.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large plastic zipper bag.
  2. Add chicken and marinate up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain chicken and cook as desired.

2. Garlic and Herbs Marinade

I love using fresh herbs in this recipe but if you prefer to substitute dried herbs, use 1 tsp.

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients, crushing herbs as added.
  2. Add chicken and marinate up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain and cook as desired.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbls. fresh herbs
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper

3. Lemon Pepper Marinade

Using lemon in this recipe makes the chicken very tender.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbls. fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Add chicken and marinate up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain chicken and cook as desired.

4. Beer Marinade

If you have never cooked with beer, please try this marinade. It's tasty and delicious with a subtle hint of beer flavor that is just right. This marinated chicken is best grilled.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 tbls. sugar
  • 1 tbls. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. dried dill
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a plastic zipper bag.
  2. Add chicken and marinate up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain and cook as desired.

5. Spicy Honey Lime Marinade

This is one of my very favorite marinades that reminds me of dinner on a tropical island.

Ingredients

  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbls. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground red pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients, mixing well until honey is dissolved.
  2. Add chicken and marinate up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain chicken and cook as desired.

6. Italian Herb Marinade

A nice and simple marinade that is perfect for sauteing stove top or on the grill.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tbls. dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large plastic zipper bag.
  2. Add chicken and marinate up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain chicken and cook as desired.

7. Southwest Green Chile Marinade

This chicken marinade is so good for a whole roasted chicken but is also fabulous for fajitas, tacos and quesadillas.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup canned chopped green chiles
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tbls. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cumin

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree.

8. Buffalo Chicken Marinade

Buffalo chicken wings are seen frequently around my house for football games, family get-togethers and holidays. The wings are delicious, but I don't like to limit my options to just wings. Try this marinade on a whole chicken, drumsticks or boneless chicken breasts.

Tip: Brush a little honey over the chicken just before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seed

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add chicken and marinate for 2-3 hours.

9. Smoky Barbecue Marinade

Sometimes I just want a basic chicken marinade with old fashioned barbecue flavor and that's when I turn to this recipe. The white wine makes the chicken nice and tender.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbls. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbls. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Add chicken and marinate for up to 24 hours.
  3. Drain and cook as desired, but grilling is best for this recipe.

10. Orange Honey Marinade

I love how chicken seems to go with anything citrus and the flavors blend so well.

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree.
  2. Pour into a plastic zipper bag and add chicken.
  3. Marinate for up to 24 hours.
  4. Drain chicken and cook as desired.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
