An easy way to make your own 3 tier cake!

Updated on October 22, 2014

3 tier cakes made easy!

3 tiered cakes have always fascinated me. I use to stare at the cake tiers and wish I could make something so beautiful. After many attempts at making 3 different sized cakes and trying to place them just right, I finally gave up. It just wasn't worth the hassle.

Then I found a unique cake pan. This pan has 3 tiers built right in so all my cakes come out perfect. Thanks to my tiered cake pan, now I can make my own beautiful 3 tier cake!

Why go through the trouble of baking 3 different cakes when you can

just bake one cake and

still have it be a 3 tier cake?

3 Tier Bake And Fill Cake Pan

This is my favorite 3 tier cake pan. I like it because I can fill the middle with something that compliments the cake. This particular cake pan takes 2 cake mixes to make. One of the things I've found amazing about it is that it's truly non-stick. The cake literally slides right out with no trouble at all. The only thing I don't like about it is that it won't fit onto my glass domed cake plate. Well, it fits onto the plate, but the cake is too large to cover with the glass dome. So you'll have to use a larger cake plate if you don't plan on eating it right away.

3 TIER BAKE & FILL CAKE PAN WITH FILLER INSERT (BAKE A DESIGNER CAKE WITH YOUR FAVORITE FILLING!)

It's very important to spray this pan generously with cooking spray before using, otherwise the cake will stick and possibly break while trying to remove. Another trick I found is to stick the cake in the freezer immediately after removing from the oven. Leave it in the freezer for a minute and then immediately turn it over and remove it from the pan.

How it works

After putting the insert in the pan, step one is to spray the heck out of the pan. You'll want every last bit of it covered in oil. Then you add the cake mix.

The cake bakes into the 3 tier design, while the insert leaves the middle hollow for filling. This also ensures even baking.

After the cake comes out, you turn it over onto a plate and fill it with pudding, fruit, cream or anything else that will compliment the flavor and look of your cake.

  • Prep time: 10 min
  • Cook time: 2 hours 50 min
  • Ready in: 3 hours
  • Yields: 16

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 20 oz can of crushed pineapple with juice drained and reserved
  • 2 boxes of yellow cake mix
  • ingredients to make cake mix
  • 1 small box of vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 10 oz can of crushed pineapple (drained)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  2. 1. In an 8" round cake pan, melt butter. Then sprinkle with brown sugar and top off with 20 oz of crushed pineapple. Set aside.
  3. 2. Prepare cake mixes as directed on package, except replace water with pineapple juice.
  4. 3. Spray 3 tier cake pan and pan insert with oil. Place the insert into the pan.
  5. 4. Pour cake batter into the pan and bake for around 50-60 minutes. (until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean). Don't be scared if the middle looks like it's going to burn before the rest of the cake gets done. It won't
  6. 5. Let cake cool for ten minutes before upending onto plate.
  7. 6. Meanwhile, when you take the cake out of the oven, place the pineapple-sugar-butter pan into the oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
  8. 7. When the pineapple mix is done, stir it slightly and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  9. 8. This part may seem tedious, but it only takes about 5 minutes. Carefully place the pineapple mixture onto the top of the rings, like shown in picture.
  10. 9. Let the cake cool completely.
  11. 10. In a medium bowl, stir together the pudding mix and the milk until it's thick. Then stir in the crushed pineapple. Pour into center of cake and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

I'm thinking carrot cake, and filled with some sort of pecan and cream cheese mixture for a Thanksgiving cake. Such a neat pan.
