A Man & His Pies & A Dream
Do You Know Someone Like James?
My husband and I, met James Sankey when he was working in the Joilet Mall as a sales person. He was selling shoes at the Footlocker by the time we finished shopping for our shoes we knew all about James's story. James is a naïve of Chicago, who moved to Joilet, IL several years ago to be closer to his daughter and his own mother. He was working three jobs at the time to support his daughter.
When my husband and I had left the store we knew that we met a new friend, who we would stay in contact with forever. James personality had shined that day and that's what we had gravitated too. I often say, "that the first impressions is the best digestion."
The next time we saw James he was with his daughter at a waterpark. My husband and James spotted each other among the crowd of people because they both were walking around the park with the same beach towel. James said, "hey, dude, you must've bought that beach towel at Walmart." My husband replied, with a loud chuckle and a friendly hand shake and from there they continued to talked and laughed for hours. When we left James and his daughter that day we had found out that he was down to two jobs and hating both of them.
It took several months to bump into James again but eventually we did and this time his story was so real that now you can taste it.
One Man & His Pies & A Dream
We bumped into James at our local library. He had sat down next to us and started too shared his story. He said, "this is a crazy story but one day I was making pies with my daughter and we were watching a movie together and out of nowhere my daughter turns to me and says, "Daddy, we should start own business just like movie, "The Princess & the Frog." What a movie can do to inspired a young girl's imagination and help build a dream for her family?
James told us that his seven year daughter had inspired him to work on a cheesecake recipe and somehow he went on and perfected the process and quickly started selling them to local business until he got shut down by the city for not having a vendors license. However, that motivated him to find a better way to sell his pies and get the proper licenses but in the process of doing that he decided to open up his first store. Cheesecake By James is located on 20 E. Cass St., in Joilet, IL 60432.
James said, "that he wants to live an entrepreneurs's dream and maybe next year he will sell his pies at the Taste of Joilet."
