A Healthy Protein Drink Recipe - The Tofu Smoothie
I was first introduced to this smoothie recipe almost twenty years ago by one of my massage therapist friends. Soy protein is the most important type of protein for women because of the phytoestrogen it contains.
I prefer this recipe to most commercially made smoothies because it is not overly sweet. Blend one for breakfast and you will maintain a feeling of fullness and satisfaction, (not to mention gaining energy and mental clarity) as you head into the lunch hour.
1 container of soft tofu
Fresh or frozen fruit of your choice - Bananas, blue berries, strawberries, peaches, and papaya work well.
A splash of your favorite fruit juice - try pomegranate, apple, noni, pineapple.
I take a third of the tub of tofu to make a single serving smoothie. Just throw it in the blender and let it rip. The consistency is different than the typical smoothie, but I think you will be pleasantly pleased!
