Adam's Eats: Hardees Bacon Velveeta Patty Meltdown
Recently Hardee's upped the ridiculous sandwich anti with their new Bacon Velveeta Patty Meltdown Sandwich, the name in itself is a mouthful. This sandwich is unlike anything I've ever tasted. The Meltdown is a part of Hardee's Thick Burger Line of sandwiches, let's just say their not the health conscious type of burger (the monster thickburger tops out at 1,410 calories, 107 grams of fat and almost 3,000 milligrams of sodium). Any who back to the Bacon Velveeta Patty Meltdown, the reason where all here. The flavor combinations blend perfectly together in this sandwich it comes in 1/2 LB 1/3 LB and 1/4 LB varieties ranging from $5-7 dollars (sandwich only) so it's not the cheapest sandwich out there.
Creamy mayo and sautéed onions give the sandwich a real kick, the two main ingredients however provide the deliciousness to your mouth and they are Velveeta cheese and bacon. The bacon on the sandwich comes chunked sort of like refrigerated bacon bits. I thought I'd prefer slices but the chunked bacon tastes great. The Velveeta cheese comes in slices not sauce. Sauce would be too messy on this type of sandwich, the cheese slices are gooey and salty and super tasty, the flavors mesh super well together. The bun consists of a buttered sourdough texas toast, according to a sign in the restaurant the bread is baked fresh daily. No veggies on this sandwich, besides the onions, but when your main ingredients are Velveeta cheese and bacon who needs veggies.
This Thickburger lives up to it's name thick! and filling. The flavors in it come at you from all angles like an explosion of deliciousness all at once. The Bacon Velveeta Patty Meltdown is the only burger I get now at Hardee's it's that good, one of the best fast food burgers I've ever tasted. There's a reason this thing has lasted longer then the usual projected time of a specialty sandwich (one month), I have now seen the Bacon Velveeta Patty Melt being sold in the Tampa area since around Christmas time, and it's now March.
Next time you're in a Hardee's do yourself a favor and try this, if you don't live near a Hardee's call ahead and see if they still carry it and take a lil road trip, I guarantee it'll be worth it.
