Great Mango Recipes

The Mango originated in Southeast Asia where it has been grown for over 4000 years. Over the years mango's have spread to most tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Here in the United States Mango's are grown in California, Texas, and Florida. Mango's can grow to over 60 foot tall and they are an evergreen tree.

Mango Trees Produce Their First Fruit In Four To Six Years.

If you plant a mango tree you'll get the first fruit from it in four to six years and if you are growing a mango tree in your yard you should see that the tree gets plenty of water and you should fertilize the tree often. You might find it interesting to know that world wide there are over 1000 varieties of the mango.

Most Mango's Sold In The USA Are Grown In Mexico.

Most of the mango's sold in US supermarkets are imported from Mexico, Haiti, and other Caribbean nations. Only a small percentage of the mango's grown in the USA make it to the supermarkets. Most of the US produced mango's are sold at farmers markets and road side stands. Here's something I bet you didn't know. In any single day the weight of the mango's consumed that day exceeds the weight of all the humans in the United States. Now I found that an interesting fact. Mango's are the most consumed fruit in the world. They are quickly becoming more popular here in the United States but in some parts of the world like in Southeast Asia and India the mango is one of the most consumed daily foods.

If you live in south Florida you can try growing your own Mango Tree in your backyard. I've started several from seeds removed from mango's.

In India The Mango Tree Is Considered Sacred.

In India the mango tree is considered sacred and some people in India think that a mango tree can grant wishes. In some parts of India a new mango tree is always planted when ever a boy child is born and as the child grows up he takes care of that mango tree. It is some of their belief that if a tree dies so will the child. Some people in India hang mango leaves or wreaths made of mango leaves outside the house for good luck.

Through out the world the mango is known as the King of Fruit. The name mango originally came from the Tamil people.

The Skin Of The Mango Is Not Edible.

Mango leaves and mango's are used and served at weddings in India to insure that the couple has plenty of male children. India produces more mango's than any other country but there are very few mango's exported from India as most of the mango's grown in India are consumed in India. Mexico is the largest exporter of mango's, mango juice, and mango nectar. The mango is one of the few fruits that the skin is not edible.

You should not burn mango leaves, wood or fruit because doing so can release toxic substances which can be harmful to humans and animals.

Mango's Are Just Simply Packed With Nutrients.

However you should be aware that mango's are just simply packed with nutrients that are protective to humans and the immune systems of humans. Mango's contain huge amounts of vitamin C and A and both are powerful antioxidants which may even cure or stop the spread of certain types of cancer. Mango's are great for digestion and in India people with colds, fever, or flu's are encouraged to eat mango's and drink mango nectar.

Mango Salsa

Here in the United States mango salsa has become very popular. It is often made with jalapeno's, avocado, lime juice, tomatoes, and onion.

Mango Salsa Recipe

1. Two Cups Mango Flesh diced very fine.

2. One Fourth Cup Jalapeno Slices with out the seeds.

3. Two Cups Diced Tomatoes.

4. One Cup Diced Avocado.

5. One Fourth Cup Fresh Lime Juice.

6. Two Tablespoons Lime Zest.

7. One Cup Red Or Purple Sweet Onion diced very fine.

Make your mango salsa and put it into a large enough plastic container to hold it and the container should have a lid. Your salsa will be much better if it stays in the refrigerator for at least 48 hours before you use it.

Use This Mango Salsa To Make Wonderful Fish Tacos.

Let me tell you. I just love this salsa on fish tacos made out of small cubes of deep fried tilipia and then you put your fried fish and the above mango salsa on flour tortillas and you'll have a meal you won't soon forget. I think they are the most wonderful fish tacos that I've ever tasted.

Mango And Strawberry Ice Cream

Ever since the first time I made this delightful ice cream I've always loved it and it really is easy to make. I use almost any vanilla ice cream as the base for my mango strawberry ice cream. I let my vanilla ice cream thaw out enough to work with and then I add the vanilla ice cream to a container large enough to hold it and the ingredients I add to it. You'll want to add the below ingredients to the gallon of vanilla ice cream that is partially thawed.

1. Two Cups Of Strawberries run through a food processor and finely pureed.

2. Four Cups Of Mango cut up into small pieces.

3. Four Cups Of Mango Nectar.

4. One Cup Of Strawberry Glaze.

Mix the above ingredients into your vanilla ice cream and mix it very well. Then close up the container and refreeze it until hard. This makes one of the most delicious ice creams that you'll ever taste.

Mango Ice Cream Pie

You can make a wonderfully delicious pie by filling a graham cracker pie shell full of the finished mango strawberry ice cream and then freeze the pie firm. When your ready to serve let it thaw to the point where you can slice it and then top it with cool whip topping and on top of the cool whip put fine diced mango and strawberries. This is one of the best pies that you'll ever eat.

Mango Strawberry Salad

Here is a delicious salad that almost everyone loves. And it contains some of the most delicious ingredients.

Mango Strawberry Salad Ingredients.

1. Two Cups Mango cut into cubes.

2. Two Cups Strawberries sliced into slices.

3. One Fourth Cup Green Onions including tops diced very fine.

4. Juice Of Two Limes.

5. Two Tablespoons Lime Zest.

6. One Cup Of Cilantro leaves with the cup tightly packed.

7. Salt and Pepper to taste.

Dressing For Your Mango Strawberry Salad

1. One Fourth Cup Of Olive Oil.

2. One Tablespoon Minced Fresh Garlic.

3. One Fourth Cup Apple Cider Vinegar.

4. One Tablespoon Dry Mustard.

5. One Tablespoon Brown Sugar.

You'll want to make your salad dressing in a blender to insure the dressing gets very well mixed up.

Putting Your Mango Strawberry Salad Together.

You'll want to toss your mixed salad greens with some of the dressing and mix it together well. The rest of the salad dressing goes in the above mango strawberry mixture. Put a large handful of the mixed salad greens with the dressing on it out on a chilled salad plate.

I always chill my salad plates and this helps the taste of the salad served on them delicious. Try chilling your salad plates or bowls the next time you serve a salad and I bet you will always chill your salad plates or bowls in the future.

Now put a cup full of the mango strawberry mixture on top of the salad greens. Here you can really kick this salad up a notch by sprinkling the top of the salad with crumbled goat cheese and a teaspoon of ground pine nuts. Made that way it's a salad you won't soon forget. Be sure that you grind up freshly bought pine nuts in your food processor before you add them to your salad.

I think this is one of the best salads you'll ever make and enjoy. I make it all the time and everyone I make it for says its delicious.

Wow! This video hub is awesome. I love the way you present the mangoes in your video. Well, I love mango and I even have a mango tree in my garden in the Philippines but I have not the luck yet to harvest it by my own as I´m usually not there when it´s harvesting time. Thanks for this informative hub for I just know now that burning mango leaves is toxic to human beings and animals. Thumbs up! Have a great day!
