More recently while researching information for making Jack-O'-Lantern's for an artistic Jack-O'-Lantern carving article (which you can find here) I came across many other types of temperorary art as well. Primarily fruit, veggie and cake art I decided it was article worthy and voila my temporary art article now ready for viewing. Hopefully it gets your artistic motor running and gives you some inspiration the next time you are in the kitchen. Food can be just food but it can also be a work of art. Also check out the baby cake, almost looks like a real baby incredible.

I am assuming that this cake is meant for baby showers (and not to suppress someone's canabilistic urges to eat infants. But either way it is a rather strange and lifelike cake. As art I would say it is nothing like I have ever seen before but too be honest I would have a little trouble feeling like swallowing down a piece of a baby's head (even as a cake). Some people will find it interesting and a very satisfying cake for the that special someones baby shower. Also works well as a gag cake.

Other than pumpkin carving I found that some people make very elaborate carvings from other types of fruit. Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Pears, and Watermelon all can be the canvas for your next art project if you are up for it. Some designs I found across the web were simple but others so complex you would almost feel sorry for the artist as at some point as with any fruit it will eventually decay and the art would be lost forever.

If you have a good eye and a lot of time on your hands this is certainly for you (or if you enjoy impressing people). Check out a fast sped time lapse video of someone carving a watermelon and some of the pictures of more intricate examples I found below.

Some of the vegetable art is even more inventive as it can be made and look pretty amazing even on vegetables that are not round. Some veggies like asparagus, carrots, celery and things like potatoes, beets, egg plants can make very interesting additions to any meal as a piece of art. They also make great conversation pieces if you have company over. Guaranteed no one will forget your dinner party!

The flying fish out of bok choy are incredibly cute! But i have to say though, I think I would find the baby cake exceedingly disturbing, especially if someone had to cut it. I don't think I could eat any of it!
