The common fig is a species of flowering plants originating from Asia and is classified in the Mulberry family. A fig tree is native to the middle east and western Asia. Currently the fig fruit is a very important tree that is grown for commercial purposes and is now cultivated throughout the entire modern world. The fig has been highly sought out and cultivated since the ancient times. It is commonly grown to harvest the edible fruit, but can also be grown as an ornamental plant with the many blooming flowers. On the outside of the fig fruit, there is a small orifice visable near the middle of the fruit, this tiny passage is used for the fig wasp to enter inside of the fruit to pollinate the flower. After the wasp performs there pollinating duties the fruit starts growing many seeds. The edible fruit is approximately three to five centimeters in length with a green skin on the outside. Many times the fig fruit will ripen up into a purple or brown color. Normally a fig is ripened up enough to harvest in the late summer or early fall. The green parts contain a milky sap that is a known irritant to the human skin. A fig tree has highly aggressive root systems that help the plant to take root in the most inhospitable of places. It commonly can be found growing out in the wilderness in very hot and sunny areas. A fig tree can sprout up from the cracks between massive rocks in very rocky terrain areas. The fig tree is known for being extremely drought and heat tolerant. A fig tree seedling can sprout up strongly even from very poor nutritional soil. Figs can be eaten fresh, they can also be dried to eat later, or even used for making jams. The raw figs are an excellent source of dietary fiber and the highly essential mineral called maganese. A fig fruit contains many diverse phytochemicals that naturally include polyphenol, gallic acid, chlororongenic acid, syringic acid, catechin, epicatechin, and important ration levels. Currently in the world today the common fig is known to be highly nutritious for the human body and the fig was one of the first plants to ever be cultivated by mankind.

The olives agricultural importance has long been significant to millions of people living around the world. In fact, olives were known to be commercially grown in Crete roughly three thousand years before christ. The trunk of the olive tree is typically gnarled and twisted. Olive trees are a very hardy species of trees that typically grow best in extremely hot and sunny areas with no shade. The trees are highly drought, disease, and fire resistant. Commonly the olive trees wil posess very robust and exstensive root systems. The leaves of the olive tree are a silvery green color and are oblong shaped. It is estimated that there are roughly eight hundred and sixty five million olive trees growing around the world currently today. Many olive trees growing around the world are said to be hundreds and thousands of years old. This has been scientifically proven many times and the thousand year old olive trees continue to produce olives even presently today. The olive fruit is commonly cultivated for food that are generally referred to as table olives. Harvesting season for the olives occurs normally during the autumn and wintertime months when the olives ripen into a deep green to purple in appearence. Today there are numerous different ways to harvest the olives. Most are simply harvested by aggressively shaking the entire tree or the tress branches causing the olives to fall onto the ground below. Another method for harvesting is standing on a ladder and begin "milking" the olives into a sack that is tied tightly around a harvesters waist. The olive tree is the most extensively cultivated fruit crop in the modern world and is an excellent source of vitamin E. The strong acid in the lemon dissolves away all tarnish, removes the tough grease, and can even be used as a non-toxic insecticide treatment. The lemons peelings can be used to shine or polish up many various items around the home. Often lemon juice can be used as a simple invisible ink that is naturally developed by heat. In India, the lemon is considered to be highly anti-bacterial, and is often used in some medicines. In the kitchen a lemon has many various uses. Many desert recipes call for lemons as the main ingredient. A baker can prepare lemon curd, lemon meringue pie, lemon icebox pie, lemon chiffon cake, lemon tarts, shake lemon pie, or even lemon pudding. The chef can use zesty lemons to cook lemon fish, marinate chicken, or create lemon sauces for other foods. A bartender can use fresh lemons for alcholic mixed drinks or even cocktails. A few lemon based cocktails from around the world often include the lemon drop, a kitron cocktail, or even lemon liquor.
