Asian Ground Turkey Burger w/Crimini and Shitake Mushrooms

One of my favorite things to cook is Asian food its something about the flavor that really has me wanting more and more, When I prepare Asian food I love you use ingredients that I sell in love with this way I can apply my own brand of freshness and lightness so what your eating is not heavy at all but also have good fun flavors,

To get started I am going to pickel the Crimini Mushrooms then I going to add the Shitake to the Ground Turkey mixture along with some Green Onions and Asian 5 Spice Powder that I make and sell myself.
Asian Ground Turkey Burger w/Crimini and Shitake Mushrooms

The first thing were going to do is pickle the Crimini Mushroms by giving them a rough chop then adding them to the pickling liquid.
Tip - When cleaning your mushrooms rinse them quickly running them under cold water then using a very dampped cloth wipe any extra dirt that may be left on the mushrooms.
Pickling Ingredients

1/2 Pound of crimini mushrooms, rough chopped or thinly sliced

6 Tablespoons of rice wine vinegar

1/2 Teaspoon of brown sugar1/2 Teaspoon of sea salt1/2 Teaspoon of black pepper corns
When making this pickling liquid we are going to keep it really simple, just add your crimini mushrooms to a bowl with a cover then add the brown sugar, sea salt and the black peppercorns then add your 6 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar mix well and cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes no more than 1 hour.
Turkey Burger Ingredients

16 ounces of ground turkey

3/4 pound shitake mushrooms - small diced or thinly sliced1/2 teaspoon of asian 5 spice powder1 green onion thinly sliced then chopped

1 1/2 tsp grated fresh tarragon leaves

1 egg white

1 Tbs low-sodium soy sauce

4 whole-split top hamburger buns, split and toasted
Methods
To get started making the turkey patties using a large size bowl add your ground turkey meat, mushrooms, onions, tarragon them add your soy sauce, eggs whites, Asian 5 spice powder blend well but loosely if you can. When you have it mixed Shape into 4 patties, 1/2-inch thick. patties.

Cooking Tip - We did not add any filler the shitake mushrooms are the filler giving you more goodness in your burger and more flavor.

Now that you have your burgers ready to be cooked I am going to share with you two ways to get then done the first way is to steam them and the second way is to grill them .

To me steaming them are so much better but it takes just a little bit longer to do, but what I do is set up my steamer add parchment paper into the bottom of my steamer basket then I add my burgers into my steamer and let them steam for 8 minutes then i turn off the steamer remove my burgers but let them sit in the steamer to stay hot. Then I will get out my grill pan spray some pam cooking oil on the pan and then I would put a nice sear on the outside for about 1 minutes on each side while they are searing I would set up my hamburger buns then add the turkey burgers add the pickled crimini mushrooms that you removed from the pickling liquid after 30 minutes and enjoy.

Now the second way is just the normal way I would do them and that is to use my grill pan and grill them. I would use some pam cooking spray on my grill pan or searing pan I would get the pan hot then add the turkey burgers and cook them for about 5 minutes on each side until they reach the desired doneness your wanting, but the last couple of minutes before you remove your burgers get your grilled buns ready the add you burgers to the buns add your pickled crimini mushrooms then serve and enjoy.

Cooking Tip - Make sur that you ground turkey reaches a cooking temperature of at least 160 to 165 degrees so it can kill off any harmful bacteria the may be in uncooked foods.

Happy Eating
