Pizza On The Grill. Pampered Chef BBQ Chicken Pizza

BBQ Chicken Pizza on the grill is one of my favorites! In Connecticut the weather is finally getting to grilling season and I recently was able to try out the Pampered Chef BBQ Pizza Pan on the grill. I LOVE IT! This is a fairly new product to Pampered Chef and one of the joys of being a Pampered Chef consultant is getting products for free or at a huge discount. This was the one of the new spring product last year that I tried and I am glad I did. What makes the Pampered Chef BBQ Pizza Pan so wonderful? It is so easy to use and the pizza really tastes fantastic. The pan is 12"/ 30 cm Round which is the perfect size to create many different kinds of fresh pizza but still leaves space on most grills to cook other foods simultaneously. The design on the pizza pan has open slots so the crust is exposed to the rich smoky flavor from the grill leaving grill like marks on the bottom of the pizza. The handles on the pan make it easy to navigate both on and off the grill. Please use a BBQ mitt though because the pan will get very hot!

Tips for Cooking Pizza on the Grill

Some tips on cooking pizza using the Pampered Chef BBQ Pizza Pan. It is best cooked on a gas grill instead of a charcoal grill. This is because it requires indirect heat. If you are an expert at charcoal grilling, have a big enough grill, and know how to place the charcoal so that it is condusive to indirect grilling go for it!

Tips for different crusts! If you are using a thin crust (8 oz/250 g prepared pizza dough) you can use the direct cooking method on a gas grill heating on Medium-high for 8 - 12 minutes or you can use the indirect cooking method on a gas grill on Medium - high heat for 16 - 22 minutes. If using a charcoal grill it is recommended to use indirect cooking ONLY on medium- high heat for 16 - 22 minutes. If using a thick crust on a gas or charcoal grill (16 oz./450 g prepared pizza dough) use indirect cooking at a medium-high heat for 18 - 22 minutes. Do not use the direct cooking method! And now for the best part of this article! A recipe that I just have to share! The BBQ Chicken Pizza recipe. Super good no matter what product you use although of course I am partial to the Pampered Chef BBQ Pizza Pan! Visit my web-site to take a look! Grilled BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe


1 small red onion

2 garlic cloves, peeled

2 cups shredded cooked rotisserie chicken

1 cup Beer Barbecue Sauce, divided (or any other BBQ sauce of your liking)

2 tsp finely chopped fresh oregano leaves

1/2 tsp coursely ground pepper

cornmeal for dusting

1 lb frozen prepared pizza dough, thawed

6 oz marbled cheddar cheese, grated

Additional fresh oregano for garnish


Prepare grill for indirect cooking over medium-high heat. Slice onion crosswise using simple slicer on #3 setting. Separate onion slices into rings. Slice garlic using garlic slicer. Combine chicken, 1/2 cup of the sauce, oregano and black pepper in small bowl, toss to coat.

Generously sprinkle pastry mat with cornmeal; place dough onto center of mat. Using baker's roller roll to a 12-in circle. Place dough onto BBQ Pizza Pan, gently stretching to cover bottom.

Spread remaining 1/2 cup sauce evenly over crust to within 1/2 in of edge. Top with chicken mixture, garlic and onion, sprinkle with cheese.

Place pizza pan on grid of grill. Grill, covered, 18 - 22 minutes or until crust is deep golden brown, carefully rotating pan occasionally. Remove pizza pan from grill, sprinkle pizza evenly with additional oregano, if desired.

Favorite Pizza Toppings

In a recent poll sited from the Huffington Post it was found that American's love the following pizza toppings:

1. Pepperoni (my favorite!)

2. Mushrooms (my 2nd favorite!)

3. Onions

4. Sausage

5. Bacon

6. Extra Cheese

7. Black Olives (what???? I have to totally disagree with this one. I pick them off if they are on there!)

8. Green Peppers

9. Pineapple (what about the ham? Hawaiian pizza is also a favorite - but you have to include the ham!)

10. Spinach

      Okay, I have never heard of the Pampered Chef and look at all of these products. Are you a representative for their company? You should be getting paid by them for all the advertising you are doing for them.

      Another great idea. I have never even considered barbecuing a pizza...what a radical idea. :) Again, nice job!

      Won't be long here in TX and it will be grilling out time again. There are often days even in January when that can be done. I'm thinking grilled pizza would be a real treat!

      Morning Keeley.

      Over here in Europe the grilling season has been knocked back a few weeks by a cold front coming in from the artic.

      This sounds a good recipe and the idea of a pizza pan is great.

      We'll be having a few friends over for pizza evenings at our caravan site, that is when the weather plays it's part.
