BLACK GINGER SUSHI RESTAURANT – A RESTAURANT REVIEW

BLACK GINGER SUSHI RESTAURANT is an Asian Fusion restaurant, located at 435 Dolly Madison Road in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have written several Asian Restaurant reviews here on HubPages. This will just be a relatively brief restaurant review of Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant. Generally, the food at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant tastes very delicious. The Black Ginger Sushi restaurant food menu offers a 'fusion' of many flavors from various Asian countries. This Asian fusion style of cooking is very popular, attracting customers to Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant.

The Black Ginger Sushi restaurant food menu offers many of the most popular Asian cuisine dishes including pad Thai noodles and curry bowls. Among its foods, Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant offers a wide array of sushi.

• Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant is a spacious and neat contemporary restaurant with lots of evidently brand new furnishings and updates.
• The logo for Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant offers a black background with gold lettering.
• For Black Ginger restaurant, the main logo, the website, marketing materials and food menu all offer matching and coordinated black, gold and white, elegant design.

Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant includes a bar, two flat screen televisions, raw sushi on display in a glass case, soft and comfortable booth seating along with other types of table seating, lots of space between dining parties for quiet and peaceful dining, and soft lighting.

Each diner at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant is offered both fork and chopstick options as long black, sturdy chopsticks and fork silverware are wrapped together in a thick, soft white disposable napkin and placed on the table for each person.

I have been noticing lately that several Asian Fusion restaurants including Black Ginger Restaurant are beginning to go much lighter on the soy sauce when preparing dishes, perhaps to offer healthier dining out options. The customer is left to add soy sauce to the dish, according to taste.

At Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant, the soy sauce that is available on the table for customers to add to their food as they desire is placed in cute small opaque ceramic containers with spouts for pouring the soy sauce out on to small ceramic trays to be used for dipping foods such as sushi into the sauce.

Also noticeable on the tables are Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant were fresh flowers in very short vases, as short as drinking glasses. I always love to see real, fresh flowers on the tables at restaurants. Unfortunately, the pretty flower at our own table at the restaurant was definitely in need of fresh water in the short vase. Our family just discreetly pushed the short vase away from us so that none of us would start to experience sneezing, runny nose or other allergy sensitivities. Then, we got excited about getting ready to order our meal that we were expecting to be very tasty.

We had taken a look at the restaurant’s website before heading down to Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant and we do not always bother to take the time to do that (look at a restaurant’s website) before heading out to a restaurant.

Nevertheless, taking a look at the Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant website offered us an idea of what the food prices would be like and we got to see attractive food photos that had us thinking, hey, this is going to be a pretty good place and we are looking forward to trying the food at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant.

As I have said numerous times before in my restaurant review articles, we practically always head out to a restaurant with a restaurant coupon in hand. Yes, sir. This time, we enjoyed using a coupon for up to ten dollars off at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant.

Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant has a very nice interior and this contributes to the pleasant dining-in experience but on the down side, the restaurant is quite pricey.

Our $10 off coupon brought a $60 dining bill down to $50 but we had originally planned to not spend more than $30 or $40. The many enticing menu options did get the better of us though and we simply ordered too many food items, more than we had originally planned to order! At least, we had leftovers to take home with us.

It was just last night (A Friday evening during the month of May) that we experienced the pleasure of this enjoyable dining experience at around 6:30pm. We ate our leftovers for lunch earlier today.

All of the food that we ordered at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant met our high expectations for great tasting food! I was a bit reminded of some of Thai restaurants that I enjoyed dining at when I lived in Washington DC several years ago.

The food items that we ordered on this, our first visit to Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina included:

1. California Roll that includes crab and avocado ($7),
2. Fried calamari that was very fresh and crispy and included diced green bell peppers and diced red bell peppers ($10),
3. Fried wonton skins with sweet red chili sauce, described as such and also marketed as ‘chips and dip’ on the food menu ($2),
4. Original crispy fried chicken wings with sweet red chili sauce on the side ($9).

Those were the plentiful appetizers that we shared up.

Our $10 off coupon was to be used to main food entrées only and to utilize the ten off coupon, we ordered two food items (main entrees) that did not disappoint, the Mongolian beef ($15) and the red curry bowl – steak ($15) (other options included chicken, shrimp or calamari for example) The red curry sauce tasted superb and was only slightly spicy.

The Mongolian beef featured and brown sauce that was both sweet and savory and generously glazed the steak.

• The Mongolian beef entrée included fresh steamed broccoli and fried rice and the red curry steak bowl also included fried rice. (You will be asked whether you want fried rice or white rice)
• Extra sides of fried rice are available for $3 at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant. The Mongolian beef entrée also contained lots of red peppers, green peppers and onions.
• The fried rice was very light in color, almost like white rice and yes, of course more soy sauce can be added to suit the individual’s taste.

Dining at Black Ginger Sushi Restaurant was a very pleasant experience.
