Bacon Just Makes it Better

Alright, admittedly I’m well aware that health and fitness gurus everywhere must be cringing at that thought but hear me out on this. Yes bacon packs a healthy dose of fat, salt and a myriad of other things not normally considered very healthy. But I tend to go with the old adage that everything in moderation is alright. Surely four or five slices of that smoky crisp indulgence added to an entire dessert recipe is a far better option than eating that same portion on your breakfast plate.

In these three dessert tutorials I demonstrate how a little bacon goes a long way in satisfying that sweet and salty craving we can find so compelling. And besides when you’re working dessert into you’re eating plan, you know that it’s a treat and will usually tend to stick with a smaller portion. So bring on the bacon, or at least few strips anyway.

The Elvis Coffee Cake

This indulgence combines peanut butter, bananas, and bacon in an easy to make coffee cake. It may sound like a strange combination but trust me, it's delicious. I called this cake the Elvis because it derives its inspiration from those peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches "The King" infamously loved so much. If the combination was good enough for him, chances are you'll love it too. Oh, and if you happen to have an Elvis sighting, be sure to direct him to the recipe.

Bacon Peanut Brittle

Yes, peanut brittle is great but bacon makes it better. And after experiencing the peanut butter-bacon combo that Elvis made so famous you might say I became a little obsessed. I thought I’d try adding a few slices to an ordinary batch of the brittle and see how it was. In short it was awesome. Next time I make it, I’ll be doubling the amount of bacon used in the video. Shh, don’t tell the health gurus.

Bacon Maple Glazed Apple Fritters

These bacon maple glazed apple fritters are sort of like that that perfect bite when your pancakes and bacon mingle with the maple on your breakfast plate. But they’re more decadent since the pancakes have apples and they’re crispy. Need I say more.
