Steak and Long Hots! - A Recipe From Barnsey

Updated on April 29, 2012

Hot and Spicy grilled Steak! Yum!

Like spicy food? Like a good steak on the grill? Oh yeah...oh yeah, me to.

I stumbled upon the most delectable combination of foods while grilling one summer afternoon. There were some long hots and some fat steaks! Not those thin steaks your vegan girlfriend is trying to pass off on you, no! Real fat daddies that make your mouth water on sight! The kind that drips down into the flames because its so full of juicy goodness.

God, Its cold out and I miss my grill.

Listen very closely now, as I tell the tale of the Steak and long hots. Once you taste this you will never fear the heat of a long hot again because using the proper technique, which I am going to divulge to you here, free of charge mind you. (Laud me for my generosity later)

The key to eating long hots and not killing your taste buds and searing your senses is combining each and every bite with the main dish. In order to implement this I have the perfect solution. Even the most sorry sissy pants will be able to actually appreciate the Long Hots for what they are because each bite will be accompanied with a savory, juicy mouthful of medium rare(or whatever is your preference) Steak.

Is it good? Did I hear you just ask if it was good? Are you kidding me? Its so damn good I had to look around to see if anyone else thought of it. I found a bunch of recipes for long hots and the proper preparation of said Long hots etc. etc. etc. but no Steak and Long hots.

I know, right?

Well this is what you do. After slitting and cleaning them toss the long hots in a tinfoil tent and roast'em up good. You'll know their good when the skin has separated a bit. When they cool a bit, but you want to do this before they cool completely, peel the skin off and slit it open and then lay it flat on the plate on which you are going to place your juicy steak.

When your steak is done let it settle down a bit while laying atop a gently placed bed of spread out long hots. They join a bit as they share juices and cool down. Now, as long as you haven't touched your eyes after cleaning the Long hots you can enjoy the greatest Steak and pepper combination known to mankind.

Make sure every bite of steak has a bite of long hots and you will know the road to heaven lay not through prayer, it lay through grilling!

Enjoy and send me feedback, I'd love to hear your reaction to this great combo!

You would be surprised at how hot it is not. Aided by some potatoes to line your tummy before eating...
