This recipe for beef with tomatoes and onions in coconut milk sauce will not disappoint. This beef dish is very comforting warm food.

Here are the steps that you would want to take to prepare beef with tomatoes and onions in coconut milk sauce.:

This recipe for beef with tomatoes and onions in coconut milk is so simple. Here are the steps that you would want to take to use this recipe and create this beef dish.:

  1. At your local supermarket, smaller grocery store, market or butcher shop, look for very reasonably priced preferably sale priced packages of beef that is already cubed. Many packages of raw beef steak are sold this way so that you do not have to cut it up for yourself. Ideally, for this recipe, that is the type of package of beef that you might like to purchase so that you will save time with not having to cut the raw beef into cubes for yourself.
  2. After you have purchased and taken home the raw beef cubes that you will be using for this recipe, then removing the packaging, rinse the beef meat well with water in a bowl and drain.
  3. Sprinkle assorted spices on the meat, amounting to approximately a teaspoon each of

  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder

And optionally,

  • Paprika
  • Oregano

4. You can use either a relatively shallow sauce pan or a cooking pot that is a little deeper, especially if you plan on using a second can of coconut milk. Drizzle a small amount of cooking oil (1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil of your choice such as canola oil or olive oil) into the sauce pan or cooking pot. Spread the oil around the circumference of the pan or pot and place on low-medium heat on the stove top for the oil to start heating up.

5. Within the next minute or two, add the raw seasoned beef cubes to the pan or pot of heated cooking oil and increase the heat to medium.

6. Beef cooks up really fast. Large cuts of beef can cook in a reasonable amount of time but beef cubes like you will use here cook up even faster. Additionally, beef cubes offers strong visual indicators during the cooking process. You are looking for the absence of redness in the meat as it cooks and for the juices to start running clear. Over medium heat, within twenty to twenty five minutes, you can go from working with the raw beef to having fully cooked and tender medium sized beef cubes. You will want to distribute the heat evenly and turn the beef cubes over relatively often during that twenty to twenty five minute cooking period (perhaps every five minute, flip the beef cubes over with a large spatula or cooking spoon).

7.While your beef is cooking, you can wash your hands and wash at least two large tomatoes and one large onion, peel the onion, then cut up the tomatoes and onion, preferably diced small to add to this dish. Some people like to purchase onions and tomatoes that have already been chopped up as well. The growing time saving trend of packaged diced tomatoes and packaged diced onions are often seen in the grocery stores, but most often I still chop these up myself. You can decide how you would like to do it as you shop for the ingredients at the store.

8. After the beef cubes are fully cooked in cooking oil, then add the raw diced tomatoes and raw onion pieces. You can let them heat and cook just a little with the beef. (The heat intensity at your stove top should be lowered to just simmering at this point.) Add the coconut milk last and you will notice how this makes a delicious sauce. Stir the beef, onions and tomatoes well and frequently in the sauce for a couple of minutes and then turn off the heat. The beef with tomatoes and onions in coconut milk sauce dish is cooked.

This dish of beef with tomatoes and onions in coconut milk sauce is a big hit with my family and I often get requests to cook it again and again. While we no longer eat beef quite as often as we once did, we still enjoy eating beef a lot and cutting back on it makes it more special when we actually have it.

  • We have generally stopped eating meat as frequently and eat more meatless meals nowadays, but when we do eat meat the type of meat that we eat most frequently is chicken.
  • Therefore, beef whether in the form of pot roast, hamburgers or this cubed beef dish for example are all wholesome, hearty and well enjoyed treats in our household.

As it is, this beef with tomatoes and onions in coconut milk sauce dish is very savory and flavorful but not spicy. Sometimes, I like to add crushed red pepper flakes to this beef recipe. Then, the beef would indeed be more spicy & I enjoy the spice at times.
