Easy to Make Veg Kebabs For Kids

Kids birthday parties are always fun filled except for parents who have to plan and organize it. The task of planning and organizing the kids birthday food menu seems easy, but if you ask many parents or experts they will tell its quite challenging and tricky. You have to consider few important things while panning a menu.

  1. Consider Food allergies and food restrictions
  2. Keep menu as healthy as possible
  3. food that doesn't stain clothing and, last but not least food must be colorful and attractive.

How about a dish which is healthy, non sticky as well as colorful and attractive. Cutlets or Kebab is one of the healthy, easiest and creative dish. Ideal for kids party as you can prepare them before hand. You can serve them on sticks, you can use skewers, coffee stirrers, Popsicle sticks or fruit eating fork and this presentation will definitely please your little guests.

Beetroot Kebab

  • 1 large Beetroot
  • 1 large or 2 medium size Potato
  • 1 teaspoon fennel powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriender powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 brown or white bread slices, soaked in water and squeezed
  • 1/2 cup semolina or soya crumbs, for coating
  • 2 to 3 teaspoon olive oil, shallow frying
  • 1/2 cup green coriender, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

How to Make

  1. In a pressure cooker, boil both beetroot and potatoes together.
  2. Grate the beetroot in a bowl grate the potato in the same bowl, mash it till you get smooth mix.
  3. Add all the spices powders, green chili, chopped onion, chopped coriender and bread slices.
  4. Mix everything well with hands. Shape them into round patties or shape you desire.
  5. Take some roasted semolina or soya crumb in plate, place each cutlet on it coat it evenly on all sides. Dust of excess.
  6. In a pan add 2 to 3 teaspoon olive oil and shallow fry cutlets till they are crisp and lightly browned.
  7. Serve with tomato chili sauce or Bread.

1. If you do not want to add green chili, you can add black paper powder.

2.You can bake cutlets in Oven.

3. You can add other vegetables like carrot, green pees or french beans to enhance the taste.

Spinach leaves are an excellent source of vitamin K which plays a vital role in strengthening bones.

Green peas is one of the most nutritious vegetable rich in health benefiting phyto-nutrients, minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants. Fresh pee pods are excellent source of folic acid. Studies suggests that adequate Folate rich foods when given to expectant mothers would help prevent neural tube defects in their newborn babies. Spinach green peas kebab

Yield: 10 to 12 Kebabs

Ingredients :

  1. 1 cup spinach/palak paste
  2. 1 medium size potato
  3. 3/4 cup peas
  4. 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
  5. 2 teaspoon ginger-green chili paste
  6. 1 and 1/2 teaspoon gram/besan flour
  7. salt as required
  8. 3 to 4 teaspoon olive oil for shallow frying
  9. bread crumbs or semolina for coating

How to make

  1. Blanch the spinach leaves in water, drain them and make fine paste.
  2. Roast the gram flour in pan till it becomes aromatic and slightly changes its color.
  3. Boil potato's and peas.
  4. In a bowl mash potato's and peas, add spinach paste and ginger and green chili paste to it.
  5. Add all the spice powder, gram flour and salt, mix well.
  6. Roll the patties and coat them with semolina or bread crumbs.
  7. Shallow fry on pan till it turn in to golden brown.
  8. Serve hot with sauce or chutney.


  1. Instead of gram flour corn starch or corn flour can be used for binding.
  2. These kebabs can be backed and grilled.
  3. You can bake kebabs at 180 degree c.
  4. Just brush oil on kebab and place kebab on tray or wired rack and bake for 20 to 25 mins.
  5. You can change the side after 10 min and bake from both sides.

  5. 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  6. 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
  7. 1 teaspoon garam masala
  8. one table spoon Philadelphia cheese or cream cheese
  9. Salt to taste
  10. 2 to 3 teaspoon olive oil for shallow frying
  11. Semolina or bread crumbs for coating

How to Make

  1. Peel the pumpkin, cut in to pieces and blanch into boiling salt water. Drain water and let it cool. Grate pumpkin
  2. In bowl take grated pumpkin, potato, mash it and mix well.
  3. Now add ginger- garlic paste, green chili, all the spice powders.
  4. Now add Philadelphia cheese and mix well
  5. Roll patties in desired shape and coat with semolina or bread crumbs.
  6. Shallow fry on pan.
  7. Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup
