Easy and Fun Dessert - Kids can help
The Best Brownie Pie is a family favorite and it is not too difficult to make. It looks more complicated than it is, but it really tastes delicious with all of the flavors of chocolate, strawberry and banana blending together. It's like a sundae that you eat with your hands! The only problem with this dessert is, once you make it, you will always be asked to bring it whenever there is a family function or event. I promise that. What I like is that this can be a versatile dessert where you can substitute ingredients depending on likes and food allergies.

For The Kids
This is not a complicated snack and the kids can take part in the creation, it can be used for school activities like football games or parents night. You can use it to get your kids interested in cooking or as a way to spend more time with them.
- 1 box any brownie mix, You will need 2 eggs, oil and water
- 1 small tub (8 oz.) whipped topping, thawed
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, slice just before using
- 2 ripe bananas, slice just before using
- 1 bottle chocolate syrup, you won't need the whole bottle
- 1 pan Round Pizza Pan, Round baking stone also works
- 1 cup Chopped Nuts, optional
Let's get started.
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare your brownie mix according to the package directions. Basically, add 2 eggs, 2/3 cup of vegetable oil, 1/3 cup of water and brownie mix in a mixing bowl. Mix all of the ingredients together with a large spoon or spatula, for about 50 strokes or until the brownie mixture has darkened and all of the ingredients are well blended.
I like to just use 1 egg and 1/2 cup of oil to make the brownie mix thicker so it does not spill over the sides of the pan.
Use a round, metal pizza pan to bake the brownie like a big cookie. You should grease and flour the pan before you bake the brownie so it doesn't stick and you can flip it out of the pan when it has cooled.
I prefer to use parchment paper over the round pizza pan and I pour the brownie mixture right on it, in the center, and let the mix even itself out. Just make sure is sits flat in the oven so it comes out at an even thickness.
Bottom Chocolate Layer
After you have baked the brownie according to the directions, remove it from the oven. Gently, remove the parchment paper with the brownie on it, from the pan and let it cool on your countertop. If you did not use parchment paper, cool the entire pan and brownie. You do not want the brownie to crack or fall apart when you are putting on the finishing touches.
If I use the parchment paper, I just keep it on the paper. If I have to bring it to a function, I will place aluminum foil over another pizza pan and use that as my dish.
If you did not use parchment paper, cool the entire brownie and pan before you flip it onto a large plate or cake dish.
You can store the brownie for a day or two before you use it. Just remember to cool it down completely before adding the other ingredients, mainly the cool whip because it will liquefy.
Cool, creamy layer
Once the brownie has cooled, and you are ready to serve your dessert, spread the whipped topping all over the top of the brownie. I usually use at least 3/4 of the tub of whipped topping.
In a pinch, I have used the spray whipped cream and it works pretty good. You can also whip your own topping if you want your cream less sweet.
Remember to lick the spatula before you put it in the sink!
Adding the next layer - Fruit
Slice up the strawberries and bananas. I like to slice the strawberries first. I do not slice the bananas until I am absolutely ready to use them because they tend to turn a little brown.
Decorating your dessert
Slice up the strawberries and place them in a circular fashion around the brownie. Then slice up the bananas and place them on the inside or outside of the strawberries, whichever you prefer. You can make up your own design. Do this until the brownie is well covered.
If you are using nuts (walnuts or pecans work really well with this dessert), sprinkle them on top of the strawberries and bananas now.
I don't use nuts unless I am positive that no one who will be eating Brownie Pie has any nut allergies. If I have to go to the hospital after eating this dessert, I want it to be for a chocolate overdose, not a swollen tongue or face. No fun there.
