Best Burger Recipes: Gorgonzola Cheeseburger Recipe

Some of the best burger recipes are those made with cheese. Instead of a traditional cheeseburger, you end up with a burger using different kinds of cheeses when they are put together.  The taste can turn an ordinary burger into a WOW burger!

The recipe here is for a burger using Gorgonzola cheese but the possibilities are endless in creating new and exciting hamburgers that everyone will rave about.

And if that isn't enough, follow my tip below to take this burger recipe to a new level and use it to create a meatloaf.


Recipe for Burgers with Gorgonzola Cheese


  • 1 pound leanest ground beef
  • 1/8 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh spinach
  • 1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Use thawed ground meat.
  2. Combine all the ingredients.
  3. Form patties of desired size.
  4. Grill, broil or fry to desired doneness.


As you can imagine, there are many different additions and substitutions that you can do to this recipe and here are just some of the ways I've revamped the recipe.


  • Substitute ground chicken or ground turkey
  • Use ground salmon or other fish that holds together well
  • Substitute textured protein or veggie burger mix for the beef
  • Use goat meat
  • Substitute ground buffalo
  • Use ground deer meat or elk meat


  • Use goat crumbled goat cheese
  • Substitute blue cheese
  • Use feta cheese
  • Try any other cheese that crumbles and will mix well


  • Arugula
  • Chicory
  • Mustard Greens
  • Swiss chard
  • Kale
  • Dandelion greens
  • Collard greens


  • Other Greek olives
  • Spanish olives
  • Mission olives (though these have relatively little taste)

Gorgonzola Burger Turned Meatloaf


  • 1 pound leanest ground beef (thawed)
  • 1/8 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh spinach
  • 1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
  • 1 large beaten egg (or 1/4 cup egg substitute)
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs, oatmeal or Panko crumbs
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Use Greek yogurt to get mixture to desired consistency if more moisture needed
  • Chopped mushrooms for topping (optional)
  • 1 medium-sized can stewed or diced tomatoes (optional)


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray a loaf pan 9 x 5 x 3 with cooking spray.
  3. Combine all the ingredients.
  4. Use a bit of Greek yogurt if mixture is too dry.
  5. Pat mixture into loaf pan.
  6. Bake as is or using a fork, grab out diced tomatoes from 1 medium sized can and arrange atop the meatloaf. Poke a few holes in the meatloaf randomly to let some of the juices drain into the meatloaf as it cooks.
  7. TIP: Don't pour the whole can over the meatloaf as it will turn out too soggy.
  8. OR if you don't happen to like tomatoes on your meatloaf, arrange fresh sliced mushrooms atop the meatloaf and drizzle with a bit of beef broth, vegetable broth or even a mixture of mushroom soup with milk to make a mushroom sauce topping.
  9. Cover meatloaf with foil and bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.
  10. TIP: To conserve on energy, bake potatoes and acorn squash or butternut squash at the same time (wrapped in foil or in separate baking pan).

As you can see, there are many options with this simple recipe. Likewise, you can grill, broil or fry these burgers up on the grill outdoors, a George Foreman grill or even make them into mini burgers or sliders.

Have fun with the burger part of the recipe but for an interesting variation on traditional meatloaf, give the meatloaf recipe a try. I decided one night when it was pouring rain to just mix the ingredients together and see how they fared as a meatloaf and it was a delicious change to my usual recipes.

      Blue cheese for me. Or Muenster. Mostly I like burgers without cheese. I do love the buffalo burgers I used to get in Colorado. Very tasty meat. Thank you to all the animals that die every day to feed us! Goats especially. They are cute.

      If I had to kill the meat, I would only eat shrimp and lobster and conch. They just don't have a drop of personality, while some four legged animals are just too good for their own good.

      Ok, once the meat is dead and properly wrapped and tagged, it's fair game. I strongly believe in the re-assembly of their yummy atoms.

      Hey, Ken - now I'M starving for a burger and Bob isn't here to man the grill! Dang!! I have to admit writing this up has made me very hungry for a burger.

      Love buffalo burgers myself although I didn't think I could get around on eating the things but surprisingly the meat is very good! I wasn't keen on the goat meat though...I think it had to do with me thinking about little goats running around and it made me kinda sick!

      I've never seen such a great combination of burgers. My mouth is watering so much I have to go fire up the grill and get those burgers grilling. I love thick burgers, especially Bison burgers. Topped with cheese and sliced bacon and tomato slices and sometimes a pickle.

      Mayonaise and dijon mustard. Yummy...sorry I have to run the burgers are ready:0))) tasty I did a chicken dance all over your buttons, even your tasty one, he he
