Best Cheese Bun Recipe

Best Cheese Bun Recipe Ever and I pulled this out of a book and then changed it slightly. The family went nuts over the buns prior to putting cheese in it. Once I added the cheese, the dog went nuts too. This is just a wonderful delight, I love cheese bread and the kids love buns in their lunch so I combined and made the best of both worlds.

Yields: 14 - 18 Buns


  • 3/4 Cup Warm Water
  • 1 Egg
  • 4 tablespoons Soft butter
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Yeast
  • 3 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 1/4 - 1/2 pound Grated Medium Cheedar, More if you like!

  1. Add all ingredients to your bread machine. Don't add the melted butter, we will use that later on. Set your machine to dough setting and press start. Keep your eye on it for the first few minutes to make sure it is wet enough, add few drops of water if needed
  2. When dough is done, add cheese and start your dough cycle again. Watch it for 4-5 minutes or until well mixed. Shut off machine. Take dough out and place on floured counter.
  3. Roll dough out between 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick. I like it thinner as it yields more buns. Cut buns with glass to whatever size you want. Mine are about the size of hamburger buns.
  4. Turn your oven on to 350 degrees for 2 minutes and shutoff, don't let it get to 350. Place your buns on a double sheet cookie sheet. Brush top with melted butter and place in over for 45 minutes to let it rise to twice the size.
  5. Preheat Oven to 375 degrees. Place buns in over for 11-13 minutes. Normally only need the 11, but cook till golden brown. Remove from oven and serve warm, they are the best warm.
  6. Makes great garlic toast too, just toast in toaster spread garlic butter on and eat. Yum, Yum.
