Brown Sugar Pound Cake

This is a simple pound cake that is paired easily with fresh fruit like peaches, raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries. You could also drizzle with chocolate sauce or a caramel syrup. Plain pound cake is delicious too!

Ingredients

  • 2 Sticks Butter
  • 1/2 C Shortening
  • 2 C Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 C Granulated Sugar
  • 5 Large Eggs
  • 3 C Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 C Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
Use a rubber spatula to help pry out the cake from the pan to avoid scratching your pan.

  1. Cream butter, shortening, and brown sugar.
  2. Add granulated sugar and eggs, 1 at a time. Beat for 3 minutes. As it is beating, sift the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Gradually add to creamy mixture, alternating with adding the milk. Add the vanilla last.
  3. Pour into a well greased and floured bundt cake or flute pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 90 minutes. Use a cake tester to check if it is done. Let cool before attempting to remove from the pan.

      The batter pre-flour mixture is so light and fluffy. This really makes a great pound cake--brown sugar has been the missing ingredient in other recipes. It gives the finished cake a beautiful color too. Hope yours comes out just as good.

      Pound cake. This has to be amazing. I have had many kinds over the years but never with this recipe. Of course, I am bookmarking this so I can make it very soon. I can almost smell those aromas wafting from the kitchen as it bakes. Thanks for making me drool :)
