The spicy appetizer known as Buffalo Wings was created as early as the 1960s. They are called 'Buffalo Wings' because the appetizer recipe was created in a bar in Buffalo, New York. Buffalo wings, or hot wings, have become wildly popular across the United States. They are served as appetizers in many casual dining restaurants.

Buffalo wings are chicken wings coated with a spicy hot pepper sauce. They are usually dipped in bleu cheese dressing and served with celery and carrot sticks on the side.

If you love buffalo wings, there are a few copycat buffalo wings recipes here. They are delicious, easy recipes and are great when you get a hankering for hot wings, but are unable to visit your favorite restaurant for a buffalo wings feast. Enjoy!

Lady & Sons Buffalo Hot Wings Recipe & Creamy Roquefort Dip

Makes 4-6 servings

The Lady and Sons Hot Buffalo Wings Recipe Ingredients

12 chicken wings

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup hot pepper sauce

Oil

Heat oil on high heat in a large skillet or deep fryer. Fry chicken wings until crispy and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.

Meanwhile, put the butter and hot sauce in a pan. Heat on the stove until the butter is completely melted. Add the chicken wings to the hot sauce and butter mixture. Put hot buffalo wings on a platter or in a bowl. Serve the hot wings with the Roquefort dip, celery and carrot sticks.

Creamy Roquefort Dip Recipe for Hot Buffalo Wings

1/2 cup crumbled Roquefort cheese

3 teaspoons cream cheese, room temperature

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon each- lemon juice and wine vinegar

Cream together the Roquefort and cream cheeses until smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

      Good recipe. In Utica, NY (Half way between Buffalo and NYC, so we had the best pizza and wings) we added a bit of celery salt as a special ingredient.

      Also, by "Hot Pepper Sauce", you mean "Frank's Red Hot". No other hot sauce works as well.
