Cabo Wabo Tequila was created in the 1990s and has become the second biggest tequila in the United States. It was started by Sammy Hagar, the famous rocker, as a drink he could serve to his customers at his nightclub in Mexico. The drink become a phenomenon among his patrons and caught the attention of a Napa Valley Wine king. The rest is history, as Cabo Wabo Tequila sold 140,000 cases in 2006.
The are essentially three varieties of Cabo Wabo Tequila. The Blanco is the one that is bottled right away, and the Reposado and Añejo are both aged for more flavor and color. The Cabo Wabo brand of tequila is high class, this is far different than your standard tequila that most people are used to drinking in the bars. Cabo Wabo is very, very drinkable.
Sammy Hagar, AKA "The Red Rocker," was a rock singer, popular in the 1970s when he sang in the group Van Halen and was the main singer for Montrose. Hagar is the founder of the Cabo Wabo brand, which includes the famous tequila and also restaurants. He owns a night club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, called Cabo Wabo Cantina. This is where Sammy Hagar has his annual Birthday Bash, which is the ultimate party celebrating rock music, tequila, and fun.
