Cherry Cheese Pie - Oh My!

I found this recipe years ago, and it has become part of my desert repertoire. I like to bring this pie to parties and family gatherings where it is always appreciated, and reviewed favorably. The tartness of the cherries blends with the creamy sweetness of the cheese mixture to bring out a flavor that can only be described as... heavenly.

Warning...once you go public with this pie, you will be required to make it over and over again!

Cook time: 45 min
Ready in: 55 min
Yields: eight slices


  • 9 inch pie shell, unbaked
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  1. Prepare pie shell with high-fluted edge.
  2. Place cherry pie filling in shell.
  3. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 15 minutes.
  4. Beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  5. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees.
  6. Gently spoon cheese mixture over cherries.
  7. Bake 30 minutes; cool.
  8. Spread sour cream over top of cooled pie and dust with nutmeg.
  9. Refrigerate until serving time.

      I have frozen cherries in the freezer so I'll try to adapt your recipe for them and give this a go.

      You caught my attention on this one. I love cherry pie and the idea of mixing it with cream cheese is above scrumptious. I can't wait to try it soon.
