Christmas Eve Mice

My daughter and I have made these mice. They are really fun to put together and it's easy enough for children.

  • 24 Double Stuff Oreos
  • 1 Cup Semi Sweet chocolate chip, I prefer full sweetness chocolate chips
  • 2 Teaspoons Shortening
  • 24 Red Maraschino cherries with stems, Stems are a MUST.
  • 24 Milk Chocolate kisses
  • 48 Sliced Almonds
  • 1 Small tube of green icng gel
  • 1 Small tube of red icing gel

Directions for making the mice

  1. Carefully twist apart oreo cookies. Setting aside the halves with the filling. In heavy sauce pan, melt chocolate chips and shortening over medium-low heat; Stir until smooth. Holding each cherry by the stem, dip into the melted chocolate and press(the body) against the bottom of the chocolate kiss(the face)
  2. Firmly, but gently place on the cream covered cookie with the stem(tail) extending beyond the cookie edge. For the ears of the mice, place two sliced almond pieces in between the kiss and the cherry body to create ears for the mouse. Make sure to have the pointed end of the almond facing up. Refridgerate until set.
  3. With the green gel, pipe holly leaves along the cookie cream. With the red gel, put holly berries on the green leaves and add eyes to each mouse. Enjoy!
