Updated on October 13, 2021

While traveling, I look for quality restaurants and food stores that I am proud to share with my readers.

"Nature's Food Patch is the ideal health food store for any person who wants to live a healthy life."

— Kenna McHugh - Living a Healthy Life

Food and Health

Kansas State University reports people who eat healthily have a positive impact on their overall health and outlook on life. People not eating healthy food causes workdays lost to significant health problems.

The university reports 80 percent of heart disease cases, and Type 2 diabetes prevention occurs when people eat healthier, being physically active and not smoking helps.

That said, when traveling to Clearwater, Florida, I visit Nature's Food Patch. I call it my little patch of delicious food and vegan options. Vitamin selection fits my needs and yours.

Please answer this poll for me because I am curious how you feel about eating healthy.

Locating the Storefront

Nature's Food Patch resides in a strip mall at 1225 Cleveland St, Clearwater, FL 33755. It's not the easiest storefront to see from the street because its signage is small. You look for the CVS store and turn into that parking lot, and you will find it near a chiropractic office.

Good Healthy Food - Finding Vegan Options

Organic produce was the first thing I saw when I entered the store. To the left of the organic fruit and vegetables, I noticed a section of two refrigerators full of vegan desserts, crackers, and other vegan options.

All Raw Vegan Certified Organic Chickpea Carrot Croquettes caught my attention. Traditionally fried, these croquettes are not since they are raw. The ingredients were mouthwatering.

Raw Chickpea Carrot Croquettes

Chunkie Dunkies Almond Butter Crunch

Chunkie Dunkies Pure Foods manufactures Almond Butter Crunch. I tried them, and they are delicious. All organic and vegan ingredients attracted me to the desert. Eating them is a pure guilt-free indulgence. On the package, it says "plant-based," which means they are healthy with no animal products. They were mouth-watering and crunchy. On a cold day, I'd dunk them in hot chocolate.

Mint Chocolate Haystacks

I came across these yummy morsels called Mint Chocolate Haystacks. They are all organic, raw, and vegan. I didn't get them because haystacks are not my favorite snack.

If you like haystacks, take a look at the photo, and read the ingredients. If you like what you see, you can eat them, too.

Nature's Food Patch has quite a selection of vegan products, including raw food products. If you are traveling in the area, this is the place to go for fresh, vegan food.

All Natural Supplements

Traveling can sometimes make a person sick. If you are into natural remedies and need to find a health food store with all-natural supplements, Nature's Food Patch is the place to go. If you are sick or run out of dietary supplements and need a refill, this store has it all.

The benefits of dietary supplements are well-known for people who like to eat well and take care of themselves naturally. Nature's Food Patch's selection of vitamins and supplements is enormous. They carry all the name brands like Solaris, Nature's Way, and Nature's Plus. The store's homeopathic section is sufficient, too.

Bulk Herb Section

The store offers bulk herbs, and I found the herbs I needed with easy-to-open containers and little scoopers, small plastic bags, and a twisty. I needed "true" cinnamon and asked a clerk for help. He showed me where they stocked it. I didn't have to wait long for his help.

Deli and Salad Bar

Health food stores could learn a few things from Nature's Food Patch about what to have on their Deli and Salad Bar menu.

I went to their deli twice on two separate occasions, and I felt the person taking my order knew what vegan meant. She gave me the best options on their menu. Both were wraps, but the vegan cornbread and vegan soups smelled and looked delicious. I wanted to eat everything in sight, though I knew it was not possible.

The Yucatan wrap was my favorite made with the store's very own Yucatan burger, which they sell fresh in their cold case. The other was a tofu wrap that I devoured. It was yummy. Each time I visit the store, I wish to take Nature's Food Patch home with me.

Vegan Wraps

Meat and Cheese Eaters Are Welcome

To be clear, the store also caters to meat, cheese eaters, and vegetarians. The food is still super good for you, and as a meat-eater, you will appreciate it. While I looked around the store waiting for my wraps, I noticed turkey meatballs and other meat dishes available. Veggie pizzas looked yummy and smelled so good.

Nature's Food Patch in Dunedin

Store In Dunedin, Florida

Nature's Food Patch opened its second store in Dunedin, Florida. I am very excited about the company expanding its wares. On the store's Facebook page, a customer commented that the store is smaller and doesn't have a salad bar like the original store in Clearwater. Another customer mentioned, "not the same items on the menu, but still, I like the store's philosophy."

The staff at Nature's Food Patch are kind, friendly, and helpful. One particular staff member clarified what to expect at the new store in Dunedin, "Next time you're in the area, definitely check out our new Dunedin location! It is smaller to fit the quaint downtown community, but we do have a deli and cafe with inside and outside seating." The staff member also told me the new store has a juice bar, made fresh from scratch soups, grab 'n go salads, and fresh sandwiches from the deli. And, of course, their unique coffee is called Patch coffee. "We think you'll be pleasantly surprised!" added the staff member.

With that, I hope the next time I am in Clearwater, I will also be able to visit Dunedin.

"Love the Dunedin location. I wish the veggie burritos were on the menu. Looks like I'll still be heading to Clearwater for my fave."

Staff Member Helpful

I arrived in Clearwater and went directly to the store, and bought some food and snacks. The staff is always so helpful. I needed help twice, and each staff member made sure I had everything I needed.

Helen, Yes! It will be well worth the time and effort. The deli has the best vegan options I've ever tasted.

Natalie, You will love Clearwater, Florida. The beaches are beautiful and sunrises and sunsets are amazing. The sun rises over the Atlantic and the sun sets over the gulf.

Nature's Food Patch is wonderful. I love it. I will be in Clearwater late Fall. I am so happy I know about this store.

I have been trying to eat better as I had gotten into the habit of eating whatever I could pick up mostly at convenience stores. A lot of frozen pizzas, pretzels, cookies, bread and cheese, chicken pot pies, etc. In other words a terrible diet largely devoid of fruits and vegetables. Learning I needed to be on a gluten free diet for an immune condition, I started looking for different options than I had ever searched for before and fell off the wagon a bunch of times. I don't go to Florida much anymore as I'm not on the East Coast anymore but am planning a trip in the fall to the Clearwater area so I'm happy to come across this article. I had been fully prepared to go back to a terrible diet but now that I know about this store I can at least put that concern to rest.

I don't know how much you cook but I have this article for my new go to dish which is for Vegan Curried Noodles - also gluten free and kosher which I thought you might like.

Thanks for the article. I can't wait to check this place out.

Gregory, Trader Joe's is a unique store and the staff is very helpful where I shop. It's not as close as our Sprouts but it is better than Sprouts, though Sprouts has a better selection on vitamins and minerals.

Kenna, I do not care for Whole Foods. I believe that Trader Joe’s is superior to them in many ways. The team members at the Trader Joe’s here in Pittsburgh go above and beyond for the customers as well.

Linda, Nature's Food Patch is far better than Whole Foods. It is the personal attention their staff show that makes it so much better.

The market that you've described sounds like an interesting place to visit. There are some good health food markets where I live, too. We have Whole Foods stores as well as stores run by local organizations. It's also enjoyable to see what they offer.

Gregory, We have similar diets. I am impressed with your dedication. Preparing and eating vegan food is a real treat. I didn't know Trader Joe's carried a nutritional yeast. I know about their olive oils - great product. I will have to check the nutritional yeast next time I am in the Trader Joe's here in Sacramento. Clearwater doesn't have a Trader Joe's, yet.

Peggy, in Sacramento, where I am from, we have a Whole Foods and a Sprouts, too. They don't compare to Nature's Food Patch. There is never a shortage of staff, and they are so helpful.

Nature’s Food Patch sounds like my kind of store. I am also vegan and buy my produce and chickpeas locally at Aldi and Trader Joe’s. (Trader Joe’s also has a fantastic selection of olive oil and nutritional yeast.) I also abstain from white sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour, whole wheat flour, as well as soy and corn products. One benefit is that I have no pain in my life.

That looks like a wonderful market in Clearwater, Florida. In Houston we have a Whole Foods market that also offers loads of fresh fruits and vegetables and many other wholesome foods. We also have Sprouts...another similar sounding place.
