Soda Can Cake (The easiest cake yet)

Cake the easy way

All you need is a cake mix and 12oz of soda (AKA Pop or soda pop). Cake works best as cupcakes rather than sheet or bunt (both attempts at a bunt cake stuck to the pan). Cupcakes seem to rise higher. I have used Duncan Hines, Pillsbury and generic (from Save-A-Lot) cake mixes and all work well with this recipe.

I have tried in the last couple of months:

Spice cake and Jamaican ginger ale.

Red Velvet and (Diet) Cherry Coke

Yellow Cake and (Diet) Coke

Lemon Cake and Fresca.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Cake mix, any kind
  • 1 12 oz can Soda, any kind

Instructions

  1. Mix soda and cake mix
  2. spoon into cupcake pan with liners about 1/2 to 2/3 full. (This will not make 24 cupcakes) Use cupcake liners or cake will stick.
  3. Bake according to instruction on box.

Intriguing idea, thanks for posting. I wonder if it would work with gluten-free cake mix? I have to be GF. I like the little cake in a cup made with a couple of tablespoons of flour, egg, oil, etc. in the microwave. Have you tried any them?

As soon as I can get away with making another I will take and post a picture. I had to promise not to make anymore cakes until Easter (to many cupcakes in such a short time).
