How to Make Spiked & Spiced Coffee: A Rum Drink for Winter

Make your coffee a bit merrier this winter with butter, spices and a shot of rum.

You can prepare the following Spiked Coffee spice mix before your guests arrive. Add the mix and rum to each cup of coffee at serving time. This recipe serves 10.

You will need:

A small pan

3 tbsp butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/8 tsp each: allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg & cloves

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

10 orange peel strips

1 large apple sliced into 10 pieces

1/2 to 1 shot of rum per serving (optional)

10 cups of brewed coffee

Directions:

Using a small pan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the brown sugar and spices. Let the mixture cool. Then store it in the refrigerator.

To serve, add the following to 6 ounces of hot coffee: 1 teaspoon of the spiced butter, 2 tablespoons of cream, 1 orange peel strip and 1 apple slice. Add rum if desired.
