Cooking Avocado

Fat is good.......? It sure can be, for years people avoided eating avocados, as they were more fatty than other fruits and vegetables. This is true, an average avocado contains 30 grams of fat equaling a large order of fries.

However, avocados mostly contain '''good fat'' or monounsaturated fat . Thia type of fat has been found to actually lower cholesterol levels. You can incorporate avocado into your diet with moderation. By replacing mayonnaise with slices of avocado on your sandwich, you end up saving calories and replacing ''bad'' saturated fat with monounsaturated fat.

Now there are other fruits and vegetables that help you in the same way were talking about the avocado, but the avocado is the one that works for me, because I just happen to love the taste of avocados and guacamole which is made from fresh avocados, now if you have never taste some good avocados or guacamole I would love for you to try my recipe for Homemade Guacamole with freshly baked Wonton Chips it will really make you run to the supermarket to buy some more avocados to make some more.

Guac & Chips

Guacamole with Baked Wonton Chips

Using a fork, mash flesh of 2 avocados with 4teaspoons of fresh lemon juice,add a 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt until almost smooth. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 1/2 teaspoons of fresh chopped cilantro, 1 teaspoon of fresh chopped jalapeno pepper and hot sauce to taste. Fold in 1/2 cup of diced tomato to make some hot baked wontons, spray baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray; place wonton wrapper sin a single layer on the baking sheet. With a pizza wheel, cut wrappers diagonally in half.Spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray, sprinkle with a little garlic powder an or cayenne pepper. Bake at 400 degrees 6 to 7 minutes or until golden brown..... watch carefully for browning then transfer to a wire rack. you can also serve with fresh vegetables......enjoy.
