Have You Ever Had Sesame Chicken?
If you'll look around you'll find that Sesame Chicken is often made and served in Chinese Restaurants in English speaking countries. Its quite popular here in the United States and Canada. If you've had General Tso's Chicken then you know that the two dishes are very similar. Sesame Chicken is sweet while the General Tso's Chicken is spicy.
Chicken Thighs Are Packed With Flavor
Sesame chicken is usually made out of pieces of chicken thighs that the skin and bones have been removed from. In case you don't know you can make almost any chicken dish from chicken thighs that you would normally make out of chicken breasts and the chicken thighs are about a third the price of chicken breasts. And the chicken thighs have a lot more flavor. The dish is most often served with broccoli and the broccoli is very good for you.
You'll also find the dish made with shrimp but when the dish is made out of shrimp toasted almonds are substituted for the sesame seed.

1. Chicken Thighs.
2. Sesame Seed.
3. Ground Sea Salt.
4. Ground Black Pepper.
6. Vegetable Oil.
7. Chicken Broth.
8. White Granulated Sugar.
10. Hot Chili Sauce.
11. Sesame Oil.
13. Soy Sauce.
14. Rice Vinegar.
15. Minced Fresh Garlic.
If you already have some of the items on the shopping list you don't need to purchase that item again. And your going to have left over items that you can use to make sesame chicken another day or some other dish.
Instructions For Making Your Sesame Chicken
You will want to start by pre-heating your oven to 325 degrees. Line a large baking pan with tin foil and then put a single layer of paper towel in on top of the tin foil. Now set aside.
Remove the skin and bones from eight chicken thighs and cut the chicken up in small bite size pieces. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and discard the paper towels. Now you'll want to season your chicken with salt and pepper.
Now divide your chicken up into three batches and toss your chicken well with cornstarch to coat your chicken. Heat your oil in a skillet and then in batches brown the chicken on all sides until it is brown. Take it out of the pan once brown and put it onto the paper towel in the prepared pan. Once you have all the chicken browned and in the pan pull out the paper towel and discard it.
For Your Sauce
For your sauce you will need.
1. One Cup Chicken Broth.
2. One Third Cup White Granulated Sugar.
3. One Tablespoon Ketchup.
4. One Tablespoon Hot Chili Sauce.
5. One Tablespoon Sesame Oil.
6. One Tablespoon Sherry.
7. Two Tablespoons Soy Sauce.
8. Two Tablespoons Rice Vinegar.
9. One Tablespoon Minced Fresh Garlic.
10. Two Tablespoons Water.
11. One Tablespoon Cornstarch.
Put all eleven ingredients into a blender or food processor and puree smooth. Pour out into a saucepan and bring to a boil and cook stirring constantly for about three minutes until the sauce is thickened.
By now your chicken should all be cooked to a golden brown and should all be in the tin foil lined pan. Pour the sauce over the chicken and turn the chicken pieces over to coat the chicken well with the sauce.
Put your pan of chicken and sauce in the oven and cook for thirty minutes. About halfway through the cooking time sprinkle the chicken with the sesame seeds and then turn the chicken pieces over and sprinkle the other side with sesame seeds. Cook for the remaining time and get ready to serve your delicious healthy sesame chicken.
This chicken is delicious served with hot buttered white rice and steamed broccoli. You can put broccoli around the edges of a serving platter and then cover the bottom with the hot buttered rice. Your sesame chicken goes on top of the rice. And you'll have a meal that I guarantee you that people will love.
