Cowboy Cookie Mix

Updated on November 2, 2011

Cowboy cookies

i love the whole recipe in a jar thing. I mean seriously, how stinkin' cute is it to give someone this handmade thing that took like what 15 minutes to make. And when they make something with it, oh yeah, it totally gets so much better. My sisters-in-law and I have been trading recipes back and forth so I thought I would share a few with you all.

What you're going to need is:

1 1/3 c rolled oats not instant

1/2 c brown sugar

1/2 c sugar

1/3 c chopped pecans

3/4 c semi sweet chocolate chips

1 1/3 c all purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

Now all you gotta do is layer all the ingredients in the same order I gave them to you in. Oh yeah you'll need a 1 quart canning jar. Make sure yuo pack everything down before you add the next ingredient. Then you add a gift tag that has the baking instructions on it. Here they are:

1 jar cowboy cookie mix

1/2 c melted butter

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Cream the butter, egg, and vanilla. Add the Cowboy Cookie Mix. And stir, stir, stir. Get your hands in there are get messy. Then make little balls about the size of a walnut out of the dough and put them on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Back for 11 - 13 minutes.

Now one thing I found out about cookies is they keep baking after you take them out of the oven so make sure you get them off that cookie sheet and onto a cooling rack.

Have fun but don't eat too many. This recipe make 2 - 3 dozen cookies. You're gonna need a lot of milk.
