Creamy, Country Cole Slaw Recipe

This old-fashioned, creamy, cole slaw recipe is one that I've been making for years, and my family and I both love it! Made with simple ingredients, such as; cabbage, red cabbage, green onion, green pepper, mayonaise, apple cider vinegar, dry mustard, sugar, salt, and celery seed, this salad is definitely a winner! I serve it at barbecues, picnics, parties, and as a side dish with dinner. Pairs well with chicken, fish and chips, sandwiches and many more meat dishes too!! 1 cup mayonaise

3 tbsp. sugar

3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

1 1/2 tsp. salt

3/4 tsp. dry mustard

1/4 tsp.celery seed

8 cups shredded cabbage

2 cups of shredded red cabbage

1 1/2 cups shredded cabbage

1 cup diced green pepper

1/4 cup sliced green onion


In a large mixing bowl, stir together the first (6) ingredients. Next add the remaining (4)ingredients and toss to coat. Refrigerate and chill for several hours. Enjoy!

      Hi Pollyannalana! The mustard just gives it a little zing, and it tastes so good. I've never tried it on a garden salad, but it sounds really delicious. I will definitely be giving that a try! :)

      This is just like mine but I don't use the dry mustard, maybe I will give that a try. It was my dad's recipe and that sweet and vinegar really make it great. Thanks, I will try yours! It is good on a big lettuce and veggie salad too, have you tried that?
