A Little History Of The Crock Pot

Crock Pot cooking makes for fast great tasting meals that suit your schedule. You place your ingredients in the crock pot in the morning and 6-8 hours later when you return there is a great meal waiting there in the crock pot for you.

Crock Pots first came on the scene in the early 1970s and before long everybody and their grandmother had one but a lot of people just didn't realize how practical an invention the crock pot is. And all the great things you can cook in one.

Most crock pot recipes can be put together in 5-30 minutes. The cook only has to chop and measure the ingredients and throw it all in the crock pot for the suggested cooking time. And when you come back to the crock pot there is a wonderful meal.

So what are you waiting on. Why not go down to the local supermarket or even Walmart and buy you a crock pot or even two now.

Crock Pots , Crock Pot Recipes and more

My situation is not at all unique. I spend all day working and I really love to eat but I don't want to spend hours and hours running back and forth to the kitchen to cook a wonderful meal. Yes I do love to eat. And then one day I noticed a crock pot at Walmart and brought it home. I started to experment with cooking in it and I believe I have come up with some of the best crock pot recipes you will ever eat.

So I thought I would start a series of hub pages about crock pots and cooking with crock pots. I now have several crock pots and you wouldn't believe all the wonderful things I can now cook in one. And below are several of my favorite crock pot recipes.

And these crock pot recipes I have for you are so good. I guarantee you that these recipes are some of the tastiest dishes you will ever eat. I hope you will try them and let me know what you think about them in the comment section below.

Crock Pot Advice And Fun For You

The beauty of a crock pot is that it's a plug and cook feature. You just toss everything in the crock pot and forget it. With all most all dishes stirring is not necessary but I know we all like to check out what's cooking and see how its doing. So if you must feel free to stir most crock pot recipes unless the recipe tells you not to.

All Crock Pots Are Not Equal

When it comes to cooking times know that all crock pots are not equal when it comes to cooking times. Some crock pots heat up and cook faster than other crock pots. Others can seem slow. You will need to cook a few meals in your new crock pot before you learn exactly how your crock pot is going to perform for you.

Dry Bean Information For The Crock Pot

I love to cook dried beans in the crock pot but there are some cautions you need to know about cooking dry beans. Remember that the amount of dry beans you put into a crock pot is going to double in volume. And different types of beans will require different cooking times and it will also depend on the ingredients cooked with the beans.

A Bit Of Crock Pot Wisdom For You

1. Avoid really sudden temperature changes in your crock pot. Do not add really cold items or cold water to a hot crock pot. It could crack and ruin your crock pot.

2. Always use your crock pot with its lid on. Its the only way a slow cooker is going to work so remember keep the lid on.

3. Don't immerse the cooking elements in water.

4. Let your crock pot cool before you clean it and wash it.

Homestyle Chicken Stew With Mushrooms And Peppers

Here's a very easy stew with lots of homemade flavors that you and your family are sure to enjoy. This crock pot recipe for the Chicken Stew with Mushrooms and Peppers is really enjoyed by a lot of people including me and my family. Its easy to prepare and you can serve it with a crusty loaf of french bread and a garden salad for a complete meal.

For Your Recipe You Will Need.

2 Pounds of Skinless Boneless Chicken Cut In Small Cubes

1 Can Of Cream Of Chicken Soup And 1 Can Of Water

1 Can of Chicken Broth And 1 Can Of Water

1 Cup Of Baby Carrots Sliced Into Slices

1 Tablespoon Fine Chopped Celery

1 Cup Of White Button Mushrooms Diced Up Fine

1 Cup Of Green And Red Bell Peppers Diced

1 Tablespoon Fresh Garlic

1 Teaspoon Salt

1 Level Teaspoon Fine Ground Cayenne Pepper

Place all your ingredients into the crock pot and if possible turn on high for 4 hours and then reduce to medium heat for four more hours. You may wish to stir occasinaly but its really not necessary. Just stir it up well before serving. To me the cayenne pepper really kicks this chicken stew up a notch and gives it a boost of flavor but you can adjust the amount or leave it out if you wish. The small amount does not really add that much fire to the dish. Just flavor.

And don't forget if you cook it please post a comment below and let us know what you think about it.

I use a crockpot, since I lost my wife and started cooking for myself.Useually its brisket or similar economical cuts of beef.I also add my homemade BBQ sauce sometimes to ring the changes.I make enough (eight portions) so I can freeze it.Then bring out and microwave.Bolonaise sauce and Chilli is done the same way.Its just a case of choosing what you want.

Never tried cooking with a crock pot but this hub has changed my view of things. I like the idea about placing the ingredients then going back to sleep. Now to go look for a crock pot to buy :-)
