Simple Crockpot Oxtails

What You Will Need

  • 8 Large Oxtails
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup sherry wine
  • 1/2 cup beef stock
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 6 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 Vidalia onion chopped
  • 1 diced red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt (add to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 portugese sausage cut thick (Chorizo)


Make sure to run your oxtails under some warm water and dry with a paper towel before placing them in the crockpot. All of your veggies need to be washed as well for obvious sanitary reasons.

Place your olive oil in the crockpot followed by your oxtails. Remember, they shrink so it is perfectly fine to have a tight fit. Next add your onions, garlic, peppers and chorizo followed by all of your wet ingredients, including your crushed tomatoes.

You are all set! All you have to do is set your crockpot to high for the first 2.5 hours and medium for the last hour. After that you can go on with your chores, go to the gym or just sit back and relax with a glass of your favorite wine. Once your DELICIOUS oxtails are done, turn off your crockpot and let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Serve over your favorite rice and you have yourself a delicious meal.
