We have had a lot of fun cooking with our wok over the years.

Chinese Cooking Equipment

Having a few of the right cooking utensils and cooking pieces of equipment on hand will make your Chinese meal preparations so much easier.

Take a look at these Chinese woks below and videos showing their use in everyday cooking.

We have utilized a wok for cooking Chinese meals and have enjoyed it. It is now blackened with years of use.

Chinese Noodles (Indo Chinese) Recipe

Is your mouth watering yet looking at some of these videos and great looking pictures of Chinese food?

Perhaps you or your home cook recipient could use some Chinese utensils to help with the task of following those Chinese food recipes? Many of the utensils can be used for other types of food as well.

That large spider spoon is great for scooping not only Chinese rice noodles or won-tons out of boiling water, but also vegetables and other things. It is truly a multipurpose and handy device to have in one's kitchen.

Perhaps you wish to learn how to use chopsticks if it is not already second nature to you? For those of us who normally use a knife and fork, using chopsticks...especially in the beginning. ..takes some practice! I vividly remember my first few times of trying to master the use of chopsticks! It certainly slowed down my calorie intake! Very little of anything except the larger chucks of vegetables made it to my mouth! Gradually I got a little more proficient with using them and have not tried using them in a while.

Perhaps that should be my diet New Year resolution? Only use chopsticks...? Probably not...but it is a thought! Haha!

Summer Rolls and Peanut Dipping Sauce - Appetizer Recipe

Learn to cook...

A friend gave me some rice paper wrappers and told me how she prepared Spring Rolls or Summer Rolls as they refer to them in the video above.

I love eating them as an appetizer in Chinese restaurants and they are not that difficult to learn how to make.

As the video shows, they become very pliable and the danger if not being gentle in handling them after they have become pliable is that they might tear. That aside, Spring Rolls can pretty much contain whatever one wishes to put into them.

Besides the Chinese rice noodles I have even used Top Ramen noodles (minus the spice packet) if I did not have the other noodles on hand.

Other ingredients that can be put into these Spring rolls include such things as slivered table onions, shredded carrots, shredded lettuce, little bits of thin little slices or slivers of already cooked chicken, pork, shrimp or other source of protein, lemon grass, mint leaves, basil leaves, slivers of cucumber and other things as well.

Choose from what you like and vary it for different flavor profiles.

Your imagination is the only limiting factor when preparing these fresh tasting Spring Rolls!

Most of all, enjoy making some delicious and healthy Chinese food at home! Once you try it, I am sure you will be making much more of it in the future. It is relatively quick and easy to master these cooking techniques.

      Hi Suzanne,

Chinese food is a perennial favorite for many people and Vietnamese food is also good. I have never eaten chicken feet but have eaten pigs feet many years ago. I would give it a try as I am rather adventurous with my eating.

I'm a big fan of Chinese food and even had a Vietnamese boyfriend once! Chicken feet are marvellous if you're feeling adventurous and dumplings are a good all-round favourite to begin with. I like the crunchy vegetables and am thinking about investing in a Japanese teppenyaki grill plate for the stove so I can have the veggies cooked easily. Voted awesome!

      Hi Rajan,

Chinese food if one avoids the fried versions of it is really healthy. I think that most people like it and armed with a few good recipes it is easy to learn how to cook it. I do a lot of improvising with my stir fried creations depending upon what I have on hand. Thanks for your votes & share.

      Hi Brett,

Obviously I agree with you. It is quite simple to make and serve Chinese food at home and it is often simple, easy and healthful. As to mastering the chopsticks...well...lets just say that I am still a beginner. Ha! Thanks for your comment, votes and the share.

A great idea for a gift. Many people love Chinese food, but what you buy in a takeaway is not like the real thing. The real deal is very healthy and tasty! It can also make a fun evening when everyone must use chopsticks ... especially when serving noodles!! ha ha

      Shared, up and useful.

      Hi Mark,

If I had to eat everything with chopsticks, it would definitely slow down my eating. Hey! There's an idea for a new diet plan! Haha! Am sure that you are enjoyed each bite and savoring it more. As to your taste improving...you tell me. What do you think? Thanks for your comment.

I am a 51 year fork and spoon user. Yet I'm finding a prefer the use of chop sticks over forks. It makes me slow down, eat smaller portions and as a result savor the meal. Is my sense of taste improving as well?

      Hi Mardi,

I actually enjoy the prep time it takes to cook Chinese food. As you know the actual cooking time is generally short, so I line up all the chopped or sliced ingredients in little dishes and have them ready to add as needed. Thanks for commenting on this culinary best gifts hub related to Chinese cookbooks, etc.

      Hi SteveoMc,

We recently gave out old fashioned round bottomed wok away and have found that some of our other cooking pans did just as well when preparing Chinese food. Those new flat bottomed woks look nice. May just have to pick one up sometime! Glad that you enjoyed this culinary best gifts hub regarding all things Chinese. What did you end up making for yourself? I'll have to make some more Spring Rolls soon! Thanks for the comment.
