Chocolate Cookies with White Chocolate Chips


My name is Lisa and I have written a few hubs here. I love to try new recipes but I have a few favorites from the past that I always use as my tried and true. Recently my oldest daughter has decided that one day she will own her own bakery and she is planning on specializing in cookies. This has been a fun venture for us all since we get to be the cookie testers and share in her adventure. So far she has started with a some different flavors and the one that is my favorite is this recipe for the Chocolate Cookies with White Chocolate Chips. This recipe can be made with a few variations as you can add chopped walnuts or leave them out and the flavor changes dramatically when you use either salted or unsalted butter. We like the unsalted better. You can also back these as a soft cookie or a crispy cookie. My household seems to prefer the soft cookies I prefer the crispy. So my daughter always leaves the last batch in the oven for the full 11 minutes to make sure that I get some crispy and she takes the rest out between 9 and 10 minutes so everyone else gets the soft ones. Every family member and friend we have that has stopped by when she makes these cookies ask were we bought them so hopefully her Bakery dream will come true one day.

Chocolate Cookies with White Chocolate Chips


Cook Time

Prep time: 15 min
Cook time: 10 min
Ready in: 25 min
Yields: makes about 3 dozen


  • 2-1/4 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 sticks Butter, Preferred Unsalted and softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Pure Vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa, Nestle(preffered)
  • 2 cups White Chocolate Chips, nestle(preffered)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven to 325
  2. In a bowl stir together flour, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In another large bowl stir together butter, both sugars, eggs, vanilla and cocoa.
  4. Gradually stir in chocolate chips(and waltnuts if using them)
  5. Once all mixed together. Make small balls of cookie dough and place on cookie sheet
  6. Bake Cookies for 9-11 minutes. ( for a softer cookie 9 a crispier cookie 11)
  7. Place baked cookies on a cooling tray and ENJOY


So I started writing on hubpages as it seemed like a fun place to share my recipes and different ideas I have over the years. The different recipes I love to cook and the desserts my daughter so loves to cook.Some of the recipes I have were passed down from my mom and others were taught to me by different people who has influenced my cooking. I like and enjoy cooking but have always been afraid of baking from scratch. Recently as I mentioned above she(my oldest daughter) decided that owning and operating her own bakery is her dream. As any parent wants to encourage their child we have helped her obtain the bake ware and recipe ingredients she needs. And the best part of helping her is always being the taste tester. She seems to have a knack for cookies so as she perfects her recipes she wants me to share them as to see what the world really likes in cookies. So as this is a fun way for me to pass my time it is a great research project for her as she sees what recipes catch peoples attention and which ones do not. I am hoping that we get a lot of feedback and praying that this venture goes as planned. Back to cookies I was always afraid to bake anything that did not come out of a box for fear or totally messing it up and wasting the ingredients. My daughter is total opposite as she looks at it as a challenge and goes straight for baking from scratch. I will continue to share her adventures in baking and I hope you all try the recipes for yourselves and get the same delicious results.
