Delicious Crock Pot Beef Stew Recipe
I keep having lots of people write to me and ask for recipes for the crock pot or slow cooker. I guess in today's fast paced life style people are looking for recipes that can be ready when they come home after a long day at work. I just ate a big bowl of this delicious beef stew and its oh so delicious. I use white wine and various seasoning that I will explain about below and I end up with a delicious brown gravy. I put a few crushed up saltine crackers in the bottom of my bowl of beef stew and then I add a couple of ladles of beef stew and stir it all up. What I just ate a few minutes ago had such wonderful flavor that I had to go back and get another bowl full. And it was so wonderful tasting. It was so delicious. The flavors had come together perfect overnight in the crock pot and it was oh so wonderful.
This recipe does take a little bit of preparation but the end result is one of the most delicious beef stews that you'll ever taste in your life. When you cook your beef stew over a period of hours in a crock pot or slow cooker it allows the flavors to blend and come together and you end up with one of the most delicious beef stews you'll ever eat in your life.
I almost always buy chuck roasts and cut them up in very small pieces to make my beef stews with. I feel that chuck roast has much more flavor than you'll ever get with stew beef. I try to pick out rather lean chuck roast but I still want a little fat left on my chuck roast cubes for flavor.
In my beef stew I use white onions cut up small, cut up button mushrooms, baby carrots, peeled red potatoes cut up small, diced celery, sun dried tomatoes, and red or yellow bell peppers diced fine. I add red pepper flakes, ground sea salt, ground black pepper, minced fresh garlic, and dried parsley. I also add red wine. What I end up with is one of the most delicious beef stews that you'll ever eat in your life.
I never add or use water in my beef stew. I always use the kind of beef broth that comes in a package and no I don't use low fat. I want all the flavor I can come up with in my beef stew. A crock pot or slow cooker is perfect for a beef stew because it cooks it at a lower simmering temperature and allows the flavors to mingle and come together.
You want chuck roast that has a certain amount of marbling because it will help to give a marvelous flavor to your finished beef stew. You will want to cut the chuck roast up into very small one inch cubes so the meat will cook up and give its wonderful flavor to your finished beef stew.
Ingredients For Your Crock Pot Beef Stew
1. Two Pounds Of Beef Chuck Roast Cut Up Into One Inch Cubes.
2. One Cup Small Baby Carrots.
3. One Half Cup Fine Diced Celery Including Any Leafs.
4. One Cup White Onions Cut In Small Pieces.
5. One Cup Small Button Mushrooms Cut Up In Small Pieces.
6. Two Cups Small Red Potatoes Peeled And Cut Up In Small Pieces.
7. One Small Jar Sun Dried Tomatoes.
8. One Half Cup Diced Red Or Orange Bell Peppers.
9. One Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes.
10. One Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.
11. One Teaspoon Dried Crushed Parsley.
12. One Tablespoon Crushed Minced Garlic.
13. Three Cups Beef Broth. ( Full Flavor Not Low Fat Please )
14. One Half Cup Red Wine.
You'll want to start off by browning your cut up cubes of chuck roast until you have it browned on all sides in a little vegetable oil in a large skillet. After it is brown pour it into a large crock pot or slow cooker. Now you can add everything to the crock pot or slow cooker and then put the lid on the crock pot or slow cooker. You will need a large crock pot or slow cooker to hold all your ingredients. Turn the pot on low and allow the ingredients to cook for eight to ten hours stirring your pot once or twice while the ingredients are cooking.
I usually serve my beef stew in bowls and I offer saltine crackers so everyone can add their own crackers to the beef stew. I also often purchase a loaf of French Bread and heat it in tin foil in the oven. I rub my French Bread down with butter and sprinkle it with powdered garlic before I wrap it with tin foil. I then heat the bread in the oven for about twenty minutes and then slice it up in thick pieces and serve it on a platter along with the beef stew. The combination is delicious.
I use a regular red table wine in my beef stew and it gives the beef stew a distinctive wonderful flavor that along with all the other ingredients makes this into one of the most wonderful beef stews that you'll ever taste in your life.
Variations On This Beef Stew
Instead of beef make this stew with turkey wings. You'll want to use six to eight turkey wings and when the wings are done carefully remove the turkey wings from the pot and remove the meat from the wings. Discard the bones and add the turkey meat back to the stew. I've made the stew for many people over the years with turkey instead of beef and they all loved it. I've even added noodles to the stew in the last hour of cooking and ended up with a delicious turkey, vegetable noodle soup that was one of the most delicious soups that I've ever tasted in my life.
Before someone asks no you don't brown the turkey wings before you add them to the stew. And its up to you if you want to add the turkey skin to your stew or not. The Turkey Stew is really good served over a large square of corn bread in a bowl. If you use the corn bread dice up green onions including the tops and sprinkle the top of the bowl of the turkey stew with the chopped green onions.
I have also made this stew with lamb instead of the beef and it turns out really great that way to.

In this recipe I once again use small pieces of chuck roast to make my Crock Pot Irish Stew with but you can use small pieces of cut up lamb to make this stew with. In Ireland this stew would almost always be made with lamb or mutton. But it really doesn't matter if you use beef, lamb, or mutton. Either way this stew is delicious.
Ingredients For Crock Pot Irish Stew
1. Two Pounds Marbled Chuck Roast Cut Up In Small Pieces.
2. Two Pounds White Potatoes Peeled And Cut Up In Small Pieces.
3. One Small White Onion Diced Up Fine.
4. Two Cups Peeled Carrots Cut Up In Small Pieces.
5. One Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.
6. One Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper.
7. Three Cups Chicken Broth.
8. One Tablespoon Minced Dried Parsley.
9. Fresh Chopped Parsley For Garnish As In Picture.
10. One Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes.
I use regular full flavored chicken broth in my recipe. You want a rich delicious broth so don't use fat free chicken broth.
I always cut my beef chuck roast up into small one inch pieces and I brown the beef on all sides until the beef is brown. Its very important that you brown your beef before you put it into the crock pot or slow cooker.
Once you have all your beef browned add everything to a large slow cooker or crock pot and get started cooking your Crock Pot Irish Stew.
As I said above you can if you wish make this delicious stew with lamb or mutton. But if you do be sure to brown your meat before you add it to the crock pot. This makes all the difference in the world with the flavor of your finished stew.
In Ireland they often serve this stew with big thick slices of hot French Bread. Heat it in the oven until it is hot and then slice it thick and smear it with butter. It goes wonderful with this delicious stew.

I've been making Czech Beef Goulash for a number of years now and its one of the most delicious beef dishes I've ever had. If you make it by this recipe it will be about as close to authentic Goulash as your going to get and its oh so delicious.
Ingredients Needed For Your Beef Goulash
1. Five Pounds Beef Shank Cut Into One Inch Cubes.
2. Six Cups White Onions Sliced Very Thin.
3. Four Tablespoons Olive Oil.
4. Two Tablespoons Sugar.
5. Two Tablespoons Minced Fresh Garlic.
6. Two Tablespoons Caraway Seeds Toasted And Ground Fine In Food Processor.
7. Three Tablespoon Sweet Paprika.
8. One Tablespoon Spicy Paprika.
9. Three Tablespoons Minced Fresh Marjoram Leaves.
10. One Teaspoon Fresh Fine Minced Fresh Thyme Leaves.
11. Two Bay Leaves.
12. Two Six Ounce Cans Tomato Paste.
13. Three Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar.
14. One Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.
15. One Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper.
In a saucepan heat the olive oil and cook the onions and sugar until the onions are caramelized. Add the garlic and the caraway seed and cook about two minutes.
Now add all of your ingredients to a large crock pot or slow cooker. It will have to be a large one for every thing to fit.
Make sure your beef shanks are cut up into very small one inch cubes. Cook on high for six hours and then on low for four more hours. Stir about once an hour. You'll want to have hot egg noodles that you have cooked and washed well with hot water to serve your Goulash over.
Let me tell you that your Goulash will always be better the second day after spending a night in the refrigerator. Reheat it in a large pot and then you can pour it back into the crock pot or slow cooker to keep it warm.
