Is An oven Thermometer In Your Future.

Be sure that if you do a lot of baking to buy yourself a good oven thermometer so you can see the really true temperature in your oven.  That way if you set your dial to 350 degrees but your oven really gets to 365 degrees you can adjust the dial to get the right and proper temperature. Also remember that the top portion of your oven is always the hottest part.

Does this make a really large meatloaf? Can you split it in half and make two small meatloves and freeze one for later? If you do, would the cooking time be the same?

Yes I know. My Grandmother made some strange meat loaves. I even remember one or two made of all things fish.

gotta love those old fashioned family recipes

I remember when my mother would just throw in whatever we had on hand in addition to the meat and egg, you never know what you would get sometimes!

Yes the cayenne pepper kicks it up a notch and with everything else in there most people don't even realize its in the meat loaf. Try it and see what you think. And cayenne pepper is good for you also.

Cold meatloaf sandwich! yummm! Nice recipe - similar to my own - you added some cayenne pepper - gives it a little zing I would expect...thanks for sharing!
