Vintage Descoware

Descoware, like Le Creuset, makes quite a lovely statement in any kitchen. This premium enamel covered cast iron cookware is very expensive and rightfully so. Descoware has been out of production since Le Creuset took over and bought out the company long ago. One of the only places you can find it now is on Ebay or occasionally at a tag sale if you are lucky. It is very desirable and tough to find in good condition. Some pieces can go for over $100 individually!

Descoware looks beautiful, is excellent for cooking, has properties of cast iron and non stick, and can go from oven to table very nicely. The actual enamel covering is made of Porcelain. Historically. the cast iron was made in Japan, and then sent off to Belgium to be finished. They came out with both cast iron and aluminum but the cast iron seems to be quite a bit more popular, as it is very similar to Le Creuset but a little bit older.

The most popular colors for Descoware is a flame orange color as well as a mellow yellow. An entire set would be very expensive and extremely rare nowadays but they are out there if you are in the market for them! I have come across some of them but rarely, and they have always been very expensive even at thrift shops. Every time I have come across these they are always worn a bit, with small chips here and there. It's extremely common it seems, and people don't seem to mind that much since they are so rare. Le Creuset is much more common but still tough to find in good condition for cheap!
