Desserts that make your mouth water

Updated on April 18, 2012

Who doesn't have a sweet tooth once in a while? I know I do, there are times that I will crave something with chocolate because I will confess something, I love chocolate. Never leave a bag of chocolate in front of me, who knows I may be capable of eating all those nice reese's peanut butter cups.

Desserts have a long history. Dessert comes from the French word, desservir, which means "to clear the table". That was really interesting for me to find out. What a way to finish a meal and to clear the table. Cakes, pies, and ice cream have been around for a long time but have been made in different forms and ways. Who could imagine, desserts have come from long ways and from different types of recipes that have been passed on from many generations.

Desserts are the best part of the meal, at least it is to me. You eat the main course to only savor the nice banana cream pie that you know is waiting to be cut. Maybe there are other desserts that you like to eat, everyone has their favorite dessert or desserts. I have several myself, I am not that picky on certain desserts, just depends what they are and how they are made.

One of my favorite desserts is banana pudding or even banana pudding pie, you can it is kind of the same thing except one is in the crust. Either way, they are both good. Who doesn't enjoy a nice bowl of banana pudding with the vanilla wafer crackers and the vanilla pudding, and then just add the slices of banana. Just thinking of how it is made is making my mouth water a bit. I can just see that spoonful of banana pudding coming out of the bowl. I can remember going to Golden Corral, before it really expensive, and when it came time to get dessert I would go straight to the banana pudding and getting a good amount. People make the banana pudding in a different way, but either way they are all good.

Who doesn't like a nice piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting? Who can say no to a nice chocolate cake? The frosting may not matter on most chocolate cakes, however there are times when vanilla frosting can make a chocolate taste good. Sometimes people like to make them out of scratch or if there isn't time, they make it out of the box. But either way, they both come out good depending on how they are made. When I make it, the cake comes out nice and puffy. My mom says that I have a good hand in baking cakes.

Now, I really do enjoy a good pie. I am not a picky person, I do enjoy eating most of the pies that my mom makes. But my favorite pie is a cherry pie, apple pie, peach cobbler, and pumpkin pie. Those pies make my mouth water everytime that I see my mom make them on special occasions. Do you like to add ice cream to your piece of apple pie when it is warm? That is what really makes the apple pie good. There are times when my mom adds real apples or when she adds canned apples in light syrup. But either way, the pie comes out good.

Now one dessert, which is the simplest to make is one that I am not good at. I am not embarrassed to say this because I am sure that I am not the only one these don't always come out good. Cookies, the one dessert that everyone loves around Christmas time or anytime. I have had history of the cookies coming out like pancakes. So you can say I have a good hand at baking cakes but not at making cookies.
