Jalapeño, Cream Cheese, and Bacon. What's Not to Love?
Jalapeño Bacon Wraps
Are you looking for a quick, tasty appetizer for your upcoming gathering? These have been proven to go over very well at any type of gathering. They can be served warm right out of the over, or at room temperature. Either way, they are delicious and I guarantee they will not last long. I would recommend making twice as many as you think you are going to need.
Step One: Gather everything you will need. The recipe itself is simple. All it requires is jalapenos, cream cheese, and bacon. You will also need toothpicks, and if you are like me, gloves. I also prefer to use a pan with a rack to cook them on so that the bacon grease can be caught underneath.
Step Two: Wash the jalapenos and cut them in half. Remove the insides. The seeds is where the "hot" comes from. If you want them mild, remove all of the seeds. If you do not mind the heat, leave some seeds.
Step Three: Fill each half with a spoonful of cream cheese. There is no need to be exact in your measurements. Just put what looks good to you.
Step Four: Open your package of bacon and cut each slice in half. Take each piece of bacon and wrap it around the cream cheese filled jalapeno. Secure with a toothpick.
Step Five: Place the Jalapeno Bacon Wrapped appetizer on your cooking pan and place in the oven. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 20 minutes, until the bacon is crisp.
Step Six: Enjoy! Seriously! They are that simple.
Variations: I have made these using all different types of peppers. My husband and I especially like using the red jalapenos on occasion. I have also experimented with flavored cream cheeses which offers a unique taste. Or be creative and make your own cream cheese mix. I have chopped up fresh mushrooms to mix into the cream cheese which my husband loved. Leave a comment and let me know what creative things you have come up with.
