Easy BBQ Pork Sandwiches

Updated on February 18, 2017

Making the Pork Sandwiches

This meat is better cooked in a crock pot. The longer the meat sits, the better it gets. After these bold flavors have blended, the pot roast literally falls apart. The spiciness of the red pepper, tangy flavor of the ginger and bold taste of garlic, makes these sandwiches taste perfect. Be sure to make good use of your crock pot and don't forget that it is in the kitchen.

This BBQ meat is great served on a large Kaiser roll, sesame seed bun or plain buns. This meat is so tender and good when it is done, you will wonder why you had not cooked it already. This is a recipe that your friends and family will ask you for so, get ready to have those recipe copies handy.

Barbecue Sandwiches

There is nothing more American than BBQ sandwiches on the Fourth of July and family get togethers, and pool parties. Other than that, I think of trips to the beach, tailgating at the football games, and watching boxing or baseball. When I think of this recipe I think of some kind of party, simply because this recipe makes so much. Whether you are having friends over to watch any or all of the major sporting events listed above or having a family reunion, this will be a hit at any party.

I like this recipe because, there is a lot of meat so, this is helpful when you need to make several sandwiches which is great when you need to be able to fix need food for crowd. Your church may have a lunch every month and this is a great way to make a lot of food for a lot of people. At my home church, lunch is served every Sunday. This would be a great recipe to take for Sunday dinner. These sandwiches are easy to eat as well as transport. No matter where you are traveling, I would make one suggestion. Take the sandwiches in a larger pan that you can also use as a serving table. The sandwiches can be individually wrapped to keep them warm if you are going to the water park.We bring drinks and food and leave them in the car in the cooler or in a container to keep the food warm. It will typically stay warm until the time that we are ready to eat. You might not want your bun soggy, to prevent this from happening, just do not put the meat on the sandwiches until you arrive at your destination.

Slow Cooker Love

Who doesn't love their crock pot? Who doesn't like to come home to a ready made meal? Meaning, that you don't have to lift a finger, or very much of one at least. You just walk in and someone says, please sit down and join me. I did something extra special for you! I don't know about you but, this to me is a no brainer. There is nothing wrong with letting someone do something nice for you every now and then.

This is a perfect recipe is great for just that. It's almost like you have someone who made dinner for you. You may have to lift a few fingers to make this but, when everything has been put into the crock pot, you can literally forget it all day and do something else around the house. Then you just have to mix it with the BBQ sauce, if desired. I always like to serve these warm. Whether at home making the BBQ pork or, if you add it all to the crock pot and let it cook all day, when you return from work they will be ready to be eaten.

I personally would advise knowing your crock pot before you turn it on and leave it all day. The particular crock pot that I have now, boils on low so I have to make sure that I make the necessary adjustments to make sure that I don't burn my food. Be sure that you make the adjustments as needed, with your crock pot as well.

How to make..

  1. Remove string from the meat if there is one. Trim the fat from the pot roast. If it is necessary, cut roast to fit into the slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, ginger and thyme. Sprinkle the mixture over the meat and rub it into the meat with your fingers.
  2. Transfer the meat to the slow cooker. Then pour the chicken broth over the pot roast. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 8-10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4-5 hours.
  3. Remove the meat from the slow cooker and reserve the cooking liquid. Skim the fat off of the juices. Using two forks, shred the meat and place it in a large bowl. Add 1 cup of the cooking liquid, the vinegar, and red pepper to meat in bowl. Then toss to combine. Combine with your favorite BBQ sauce and serve the sandwiches warm.
