No Egg No Milk Biscuits

No Egg No Milk Biscuits is not a bad recipe. I use it sometimes when I run out of bread and decide to make biscuits not using eggs or milk.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 6 tablespoons margarine, and this can be substituted with butter or oil or shortening. Melted.
  • 2/3 to 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, I like to add sugar but this is optional.

Mixing Instructions

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together.
  2. Add everything else.
  3. Mix together adding flour as necessary so that the dough doesn't stick to everything.
  4. Knead it on a floured board for 20 seconds remembering that the less you knead the dough, the better the biscuits will rise.
  5. Roll the dough to between 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut the dough with a cookie cutter, small cup, or whatever you have on hand that will cut the dough.
  7. Place biscuits on a ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake them in a pre-heated oven on the center rack at 450F / 230C for 12 - 14 minutes or until the top of the biscuits just start to turn brown.

Cook Time

Prep time: 20 min
Cook time: 14 min
Ready in: 34 min
Yields: 6-12 biscuits

The amount of biscuits depends on the size of the cutter that you used to cut out the biscuits from the dough.

Great for Sausage Rolls.

This recipe is also great for sausage rolls. Roll out the dough a little less than 1/2 inch and into two rectangles about 3 inches wide. Add a roll of seasoned ground pork or beef or turkey. Roll over the dough, seam them on the bottom and cut into smaller, even lengths. Cut some small slits tn the top of the dough and bake in a pre-heated oven at 350F for 20-25 minutes.
