Easy Party Treats to Make at Home
Party Treats for Any Holiday
You don't have to spend a fortune to make beautiful holiday party treats. You also don't have to spend forever and a day to prepare treats for an entire classroom. With three children I often ended up making treats for two entire classes for every event. Not only did I want to cut costs but also save myself time.
These party treats are great because they are simple, look like perfect party favors and taste great.
Make a Heart Shaped Cake
I have seen heart shaped cake pans selling for up to fifteen dollars! That is outrageous! You can make a heart shaped cake any day of the year for the cost of a box of cake mix.
I have included photos so you can see how easy it is to design a cake that says "I love you" for any occasion.
Mix the cake according to the instructions and divide the batter between a square pan and a round pan. Bake according to the instructions and let the cakes cool completely.
Freeze the cakes for about a half hour for easier slicing.
Cut the round cake in half and fit the two circles on each side of the square cake. I used a very large serrated knife to slice through the top of the cakes to make it even.
Freeze the cakes again for easier frosting.
Frost and decorate your cake any way you like. You can use your favorite cake flavor and frosting. It's a fantastic addition to dinner or fabulous party cake for any occasion.
- White Chocolate
- Milk Chocolate
- Dark Chocolate
- Colored Sugar
- Use thin licorice rope for an edge
- Cookie Crumbles
These adorable pops can be made in a few minutes. Easy enough for kids to make on their own or for moms to make for parties. Children as young as pre-school or Kindergarten can make these cute treats.
Buy an assortment of your favorite flavors to combine into bite sized pops.
Dip a marshmallow into the chocolate and roll it in the sugar. Freeze the pops for a few minutes to harden the chocolate and serve.
Oreo Cookie Treats
What doesn't go great with an Oreo Cookie? These treats can be made in a flash and are fun for any age. Chocolate comes in many flavors that you can melt and use for dip. Almost every grocery store now carries white and milk chocolate made for melting in the microwave. Some stores have cherry chocolate chips, peanut butter or dark chocolate. In 60 seconds or less you can make cookies extra toothsome by dipping your favorite cookies in chocolate. Pair combinations such as mint and chocolate.
You can add colored and flavored sugar for another sweet layer. Roll the freshly dipped cookie in a coating of nuts, toffee or colored sugar.
Give 'em a Rice Crispy KISS!
This is such an adorable and tasty treat!
I saw a photograph of this idea. I used the regular recipe for Rice Crispy Treats. Use funnels of different sizes pressing the hot mixture into the funnel with a spatula. Use the appropriate size square of buttered aluminum foil to wrap around the funnel shaped treat.
Small strips of ribbon are perfect for making the 'stem' for the Hershey's Kiss.
All of these treats can be made quickly and aren't very costly to make. They are easy to decorate and can be made for any holiday of the year.
