Easy Recipes for Kids
Teaching kids to cook can seem like a major task. Parents don't want their children to grow up not knowing how to cook yet some parents might not know how to choose the right recipes. Knowing how to teach kids to cook involves using easy recipes kids will enjoy and supervising any cooking or cutting. Here are a couple of easy recipes for kids to make.
Egg in a Nest
1 slice of bread
1 Tbsp. cooking oil
Using a cup with an edge that is not too wide, press the mouth of the cup into the slice of bread to produce a hole. The oil should be preheated in the skillet at 300 degrees. Children should be supervised when near the skillet. The bread should be added to the skillet. Crack the egg into the hole of the bread. If the child has not cracked eggs before, the parent may want to have the child crack the egg into a bowl rather than directly into the bread. Once the egg whites are somewhat cooked, flip the bread slice and allow to cook for a couple more minutes. The circle of bread that was removed from the slice can be buttered and served with the finished egg in a nest.
1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
shredded cheddar cheese
sour cream (optional)
1 can refried beans, heated (optional)
This recipe is helpful for teaching children how to brown ground beef. Parents should supervise as the child browns the ground beef and cooks it until it is cooked thoroughly as well as while the child is chopping the tomato. For children who are not experienced using a knife, the parent may want to slice the tomato first and allow the child to use a table knife to cut the tomato in smaller pieces. The tortilla chips can be spread on the plate and topped with the lettuce, browned ground beef, and other ingredients. Sometimes we add refried beans and sour cream to our taco salads.
